Evolution, Friday 17th Feb 2006

It's nice to be back

Was nicely surprised to see Evo's return go really really well, club was nicely full, despite a 3 month break, a lot of the regulars there, which is always nice to see.

Started off with what seemed a very young crowd, and then the split of young and older ones filled up.

The sound was possibly the best I've heard in there yet, especially back at the bar end, which is usually muffled, was ace and really clear there!

Big thanks to Mart for making the journey up and playing, and for the lifts there and back, it's always a pleasure to work with you, 1st class DJ, with the passion for it that matters

Enjoyed the whole night, good to see Jon in a better mood, and thought his set was good, with the exception of Glam - Hell's Party, sort of stuck out like a sore thumb to me, but I'm hard to please lol

It did go really quick though, blink of an eye it was time to come home

Great reactions to Orange Lemon - Dreams Of Santa Anna, one of my all time faves and to hear the crowd OVER the sound system was truly ace.

Funniest reaction when I held up the cover of K-Klass - Rhythm Is A Mystery (Remix) to Pauly P and see him clock it and then shake his head in disgust hehe (it didn't get played, was just bit of teasing)

Great to see the OSA regulars out and about, and to Shooms for making the trip up, good to see you enjoying yaself

Got good feelings about Evo this year, it's on the up

Next month, the return of Peter Hook (New Order) doing a DJ set, and the excellent Dev C - not to be missed - Friday March 17th

Had an absolute mint night.

I love the music box. Its a great underground venue and was fab to see it nicely full and the dancefloor was busy from the off. Well in Butty/Quey and the team for the success of the first night back. Soda Jules for the lighting - the easiest way to describe how it felt was "very old skool warehouse"

Really enjoyed playing first - gave me a chance to play some slower stuff and then coming on after JDS and dropping some of the major Hac tunes and especially hearing the roar of the crowd when I played Definition of Love - wow

I found JDS was better for me than the first time he played. He started with Kraftwerk and then some right bleepy stuff which was wicked. Although the set was a bit up and down there was a lot less new stuff and his mix of the Pure Trance version of KLF - What Time Is Love into Liaisons D and then back into KLF was superb....

Fab to see Jammer, Cookie, Woody, Dannster, Lil Sonz, Shoomie, Sweet, Pauly P (and of course Shabba) .

Will be making the trip up again for Hooky as the last one was pure madness. Quey I hope you've reminded him to bring some vinyl with him this time, either that or Jammer better bring his kneepads...

Top night

Was me 1st time @ Evo n also at the Music Box itself..... top venue.... filthy place with a booooomin sound system which really suited the tunes being played... was like being at an illegal warehouse back in the day

Top sets being played by Scott & Mart - real enjoyed it Was a bit dubious about Mr Da Silva as I'd heard mixed reviews from previous sets but have to say total hats off to the guy for playing PROPER classics (aside from the odd wobble in the middle but I'll gloss over that lol had it, lost it, recovered it )... it's so so so good to hear tunes like Robin wants Revenge, It is what it is, Dextrous etc etc on a LOUD system... b-line heaven

Top to see the rinky-dink Dannster out along Woody, Butty, Sonz, Quey, Scott n Cookie & top to meet Soda Jules too

Special shout to Mart was ace to see you again mate
