Hazy Dayz 27-11-04

Okey dokey, h h h here we go..

Been looking forward to this for ages, and it seemed to take ages to come around!

Firstly thanks to sweet and pauly p for the liftage

Top to meet some new faces that I've not met/seen before, Judderz, Mousemaid and Sunshine

Nice to see some of the usual lot there, inc shooms who I've not seen for a few months now, and oldskooldazed(al) wow, not seen you since May! top to see you out

I was buzzing off sweet sensation haha, your face when you do those expressions was mint, and had me in stitches I love you

Loads of you were missing, I know a few have had some personal stuff going on, but really hope to see you all out for NYE, it's gonna be a monster, Rarrrrrrrrrrrr!!

A few sound system hicups had me all confused and worried lol (doesn't take much to wobble ones head when one is )

Not sure if the upstairs was sorted out, but it had lost all the bass, and I was feeling uneasy all of a sudden and had to come downstairs to feel bass! lol sorry Dreamgirl for missing the end of your set, but when you played sounded top, you bloody git though, you played Arkanoid - No Limit - that was gonna be one I was gonna play in my set NYE d'oh lol as thought it prob hasn't been heard much or at all in there LOL

Downstairs the sound seemed a bit flat/spacey due to the PA being plugged in as well as DJ mixer, but this was sorted after the PA and it all sounded mint, crisp and fresh again

Sorry to peck your head about the sound mart, but I'd asked a few people what they thought first, to make sure it wasn't just me >> lol and thankfully it wasn't haha, but they didn't seem bothered by it, maybe I'm just very fussy

Really enjoyed Andy Caroll's set, wow that fella was really spot on and hit the spot for me, playing some blinding tunes, got to get a copy of that, as there's one killer bassline track that stopped me dead in my tracks - alls I could do was just stand, admire the man, grinning like a fucker at how good the tune was.

* little gripe

It felt quite edgey in there at times last night, I'm not 100% sure why exactly, sorry if that is very random, but it was just something I was picking up on as I ventured round the club. There seemed to be a lot more dudes in there than I've seen the last few times I've been, and more fellas than girls, of which a few around and on the stage seemed to be giving each other evils and making fist/you outside now gestures at each other, which was freaking me out - I didn't mention this as nothing further actually happened, and the most bizarre thing 15 mins later, the two lads were grinning at each other

Sorry to woody, danny and biggie, it went all a bit mad didn't it
Even I had several 'mad moments'

Looking forward to NYE, will be an interesting night upstairs

See you all very soon, and if I don't see you before, have a great Christmas D:

much bj love (ewwwww haha) xx

\ Edit to add: (knew I'd forget sommat)

Due to me being very - my feet felt like sponges for most of the night, very strange feeling!

Told to post this quote that I came out with in the car leaving the car park lol

"My feet are like sponges, they're wrong, and I feel like a jelly as I'm all wobbly - Oh no, I'm a triffle"

Err you had to be there, it was funnier than it should be lol

Well I for one, found the atmosphere in there tonight was tho the roof, there where some tuff looking lads in the club but they where just old quad park heads and where just out for a good time same as evry one else. BJ I found your gipe missjudged and foundless.

Top Music, Top Crowd, Top Atmossphere.

had a class weekend from start to finish.

Great journey down to hazy, listenin to the sounds of the fallin rain.
Big big up to mad matt for drivin us there, then bigger big big up to you bud for goin back for ste/danst.
Enjoyed hazy as usual. Didn't get to venture upstairs but i'm sure it was ace without a doubt. Was a bit joe mangled tbh so can't remember too much of the music played but i'm sure it wasn't dissappointing in anyway. Agree with BJ that it did feel a bit edgey in there but nothin too much to worry about i don't think.

Nice to see some good ol friends there an great to meet some new ones;
Miss Tickle you ickle darlin. Good meetin you hun, hope you enjoyed yourself.
PaulyP, good to meet you 'twice' fella lol. Not sure if we made a verbal tune agreement or not so if you remember anythin let us know chief???
Marchwiel, had a top weekend fella. Have to do it again sometime. Welcome down warrington anytime. Hope the trains were kinder to you on sunday then they were on sat.
Cheers to mart/grover n marchwiel for helpin me obtain entry too.

Lastly another mention to mad matt, sorry bout the car dude. Hope it doesn't cost too much $$$$

Aye the atmos was tops - one of the best imo. Some new faces agreed, but as SF says, they were old Quad regulars who'll have just come for the reunion, some of whom I talked to on the night and they were really, really enjoying it... IMO I think its great to see some reet "wide shouldered" fellas, pushing 40 and giving the biggest smiles (and hugs.... ) and no attitude. Didn't feel there was any bad vibes all night.

I agree with you about the sound. Andy, the "sound" guy , works extremely hard through the night to make it right and its a great system in there. Simple explanation if anyone thought it was quiet before Together was because of the pa. As soon as they came on, and afterwards it sounded mint again...

Fab to meet some OSA and PR people I'd not met properly before - especially Pauly P and Miss Tickle and as always it was fantastic to see everyone who came (did it seem like a long month this time round??? Seemed ages since I'd last seen everyone). Massive thanks to Mike for my CD... And a huge (and wicked!) surprise seeing Al come on stage at the beginning and say hello!... - lol...had no idea you were coming and its was great to see you playing out...

I thought Together were fantastic. A wicked new acid style revamp of Hardcore Uproar, which I'm told is the first play anywhere!! and then into Love Bug which sent goosebumps up my spine during that intro... and at the end the original version of HU with one of the highlights of the night when Suddi did 'Ha Ha Ha...Hazydayz' on the mic....SUPERB!!!!! LOL

Andy Carroll has played Hazy 3 times now and he always blows me away, but for me Saturday was his best yet. What tuneeeesss! Starting with Akasa and then tune after tune, incl Da Posse, Rhythm Is Rhythm's "Is It What It Is" AND "Strings", Separate Minds, Cee Jay, Monkey Say (Monkey "F**king" DOOO...Elvis..lol ). Quality stuff that doesn't get played out much and had me dancing up on the "platform" with Shooms for ages...

Mike's set was some classic piano tunes and was a perfect end to the night - he had the dancefloor still rocking right through and not many people wanted it to finish at 3. I think if we ever do an allnighter again it would be good to do a Quad reunion one next time round as many (well, ok....ME... ) could have gone on, but maybe I did need me bed after I inadvertently accused Dannster of "seeing" Woody - PMSL.

Hopefully see some of you at the OSA Xmas bash (still working on the weekend pass for that one... ) if not it'll be full steam ahead for NYE... (and then NYD for SJ's birthday blow out.... !)

Take care!

Mart

was a cracking but different night.

i think the problem downstairs was that because osa were not out in force 'our' space was invaded by loads of big fellas we didn't know. ok they may not of been looking for trouble but they were certainly lechers and it doesn't help when people refuse to move out of the way when you need to get past yadayadayada. but all that's just a mini rant as it'd take a lot more than that to put a downer on hazy.

spent most of the night upstairs and once again tag delivered the best of the night for me, some hardcore classics mixed up with a few more 'anthemy' ones k.l.a.m & terrorize etc but great to hear it a bit harder in there. prob not everyones cup of tea but i loved it.

caught the pa downstairs and thought that was great, especially luv bug...didn't catch too much of anyone elses sets.

was different in that the osa were really low on numbers, i don't think there was more than a dozen of us...but great to see some old faces and some new...al top to see you and good to meet judderz and howarth

roll on nye !!

edit - how rude! big big thanks to the hero of the day matty for driving us and collecting the stranded folk as well.

Here goes,

My first Hazy was awesome, will deffo go again, enjoyed it immensly, tunes were tip top, the vibe was excellent, and the crowd upstairs (where I spent most of me time) was brilliant.

Was good to finally put a name to some faces, Plutes, Grad, Blue Jammer, Ste Huxley, Marchwiel, SweetSensation, Mike, Ben Fisher, Woody, Pauly P, Johnny, Shooms (ya mad nut), Dannster and his cousin (forgot his name) Some nutters from Soulseek. All these people were cool, tip top people.
(Sorry if I forgot anyone)

The first tunes I more or less started rockin to was Annie's set upstairs, that girl rocks.

The PA from Together was brilliant, took me back from when I first heard it, then off back upstairs to catch Tags set, that blew me away, was dancing like a mad un'.

Big thanks to Plutes for the night, Mart for sorting the ticket fiasco out.

And last but not least, a Big Hug and Thanks to SJ, for meeting up and showing the way, and making me buzz upstairs.

the said few that were round the stage were actually old friends who hadn't seen each other since the quadrant park days and it was friendly banter between them... like a lot of people in the club that night
anyway.....
what a top top night I had , was great to see the usual osa crew there you know who you are
also special mention to the piraterevival and soulseek crew(some making their hazy debutes)
dance m,judderz(i'm plutes btw me old fb lol)pissbag, untoe, poshbird, brixton tim,tim acid, mikee, sgt fusion, weespeccy, tidy, ang, doolz, osdazed, regi , wikkid , sorry if i missed anyone......
i spent most of the night upstairs where dreamgirl literally blew thr roof of the place...amazing tunes and mixing... i was thinking "i'm glad i'm not on after her lol i'll sound crap" ....then up pops mousemaid on the ones and twos and plays a fekkin blinder....that 'ladies with an attitude' tune was totally apt (i could have swung for you two with my fake fendi bag lol) seriously though the 2 of you are quality dj's
missed andy carrolls set as i was playing upstairs but hopefully the recording turned out fine top stuff from tag upstairs playing early reinforced stuff etc
can't wait for the next one NYE pezz and vertigo back to back..... pezz(from nottinghams DIY crew) is a class dj..so expect some quality mixing and loads of "oh my god whats this?" tunes

whooohooo worra mint w/e

came up on friday night - cost me 2 quid to get from Portmouth to Warrington ( ) & had the delightful company of Mariella Frostrop on the train for the last 15 mins going into Warrington... Delightful lady with a well horny voice & I could just tell she wanted me (honest - well she's only human ain't she lol ) Jonnykips face when he saw her lolol ace

Friday - big shout going out to Jonny for driving me everywhere & big shout to both him n Grad for the 3 way vinyl orgy action

Spent Friday round at Sweets & was ace to see Shabbs again & nice to meet DannyC - top lad (although booooo for the 3 points you took off Villa on Sat )

Sweet did our usual "lets have an early night & not ruin ourselves for Hazy"... so 5.30 am we went to bed...

Sat was spent dashing over to Danns & H'cheys (cheers fellas ) & was ace to see the beautiful Vee & then dashing to BJ & Woodys (amazed by yr cellar of plenty mate ) & then catching train to Lime St to meet me mates from Redditch who were travelling up (half for their 1st Hazy - the rest got bit by the Hazy bug last month)...

Gotta say there is no better buzz then seeing yr mates 1st time in Hazy being loved up & absolutely havin' it Quote from Danny (the birthday boy) "This is the best birthday of my life - I'm coming here every month !"

Ace to see new faces in Hazy - Judderz, Po (LOL !) Pauly P, the soulseek crew like the Mighty Dance M, Mikeeee (although you are a Hazy regular la' ), Sgt Fusion, Tim Acid, Untoe, BrixtonTim, Karen (kisses out to poor Murfs), Mighty Mouse on the decks although I didn't see weespeccy or wikkid - someone grab me next time n introduce me

Loved Dreamgirls & Mouses sets upstairs (lol 2 babes in a back to back session ooerrr ) although have to agree that the sound system upstairs did not do them 2 lasses justice...

Went downstairs about 12-ish to celebrate Dannys birthday (missed end of Mouses set - sorry babes ) & came down just as Suddi was doing Hardcore Uproar lol what a reaction from the crowd !!

Loved the ha-ha-ha-hazy dayz !!! ending - top that

Andy Carroll just blew me away - top set from a top DJ

Mike Knowler afterwards was very uniquely Mike Knowler lolol Fair play though - the tunes were ace & the gaff was rocking Went upstairs for the last 1/2 hour & Tag was taking the roof off - top one fella

Big up all Hazy crew !! Especially Mick/Mart/Shazz/Shanine/DreamGirl/Tag/Vertigo.... Lordy Lordy how proud am I that am I part of Hazy family.....

Oh n a very special shout from me to Sunshine (funky monkey on slsk) - proper buzzed offa you lass Danke schatz !!

/edit OMFG !!! Alan you dark horse !!! Made my night you turning up !!!

PS Big up the Redditch/Astwood Bank crew !!

Top night indeed. Haven't been to Hazy for a while, and while there some noticeable absentees, it was nice to meet up with some people too.

Big shout out to Mart, Mick, Sharon and Shanine ( sorry for jumping ahead of you at the bar).
Cheers to Jonny for allowing me the use of the west wing of Kip towers and to Matty for driving and having to put up with me drfiting into pointless conversations on the way home.
Cheers to Grad and MissTickle
Nice to meet Tim Acid, PaulyP, Danny, Superfreak and Judderz.
Also big thanks to Al for forgeting who I was twice you looney, to Mike for the CD, to SJ and Sweet for just being yourselves to Doolz, Shooms, Scott and Woody for putting up with my mindless dribble, and to SteH who I very nearly converted to G and T.

Last but by no mean least big shout fo thanks to Tag for a top set, although leaving Dreamgirl to mix into Co-imperial and to Dreamgirl for, as I said at the time, quite possibly the best set I've heard for about 14 years.
