new shoutbox

we all know butty does a fantastic job on osa,but this new shout box for us isnt aas good as the last one,maybe he needs to do it for some reason but my vision isnt what it was and im strugglin reading the shouts lol,am i being a fussy fooker or does n e 1 agree

Sure its only a temp thing as the other radio server is fooked.

Like i said on the shoutbox last night! on Windows! i think it is Cntrl & + to zoom in!....

i had to update the shouty as the older one was hittin the server too much. its what was causing the buffer problems on plutos set briefly the other day. what the old un did was every guest or anyone viewing the front page each time someone would do a shout it had to send it to everyone else, with hundreds of people locked on and loads shouting it give the server too much work to do, its designed as a shoutbox rather than a chat room.

the new one for those who aint active in the shoutbox it only refreshes it every 5 seconds to everyone else, also if someone goes idle for more than 10 mins then it stop sending em shouts. this has cut down the server load at busy times massively (some of you may notice the speed increase loading pages etc at busy times because of this)

i can make the text bigger, but it would mean you would be able to see less lines of the shouts as it would be taking up more room, also within the next few months the width of the forum will be reduced as il be sticking on a new style. and a thin forum with not many lines of shouts will mean the text you see in the shoutbox will be daftly small which would be totally uncouth

will see how it goes over the next couple of weeks, i do think it jus takes a bit o gettin used to - unless ya using a crazy high resolution the text is only one step down from the one before
