Ideal 8 hour working day - which hours would you choose?

I hate early rises and I hate late finishes, so guess my ideal working day would start around 10am and finish around 2pm lol. I can't do that though normally

So thinking about the compromises, I guess if I had to choose my own hours i'd do 8:30-16:30.

That's almost what I do already though

Which 8 hours would you choose?

I'm a night owl & often can't sleep (although I was out like a light by 10.30 last night !)

I hate getting up early - espesh in winter...

My ideal working times would be 12 - 8 PM

I often end up working at night at home anyway Damn the works home connection thingy...

I do 7.30 - 3.30, although I'm normally in by 7.
Trouble is I've got a 90 minute commute (each way) on top, so in reality my day is more like 5 - 5
I also have to do on-call cover every evening till 11

Not that I'm always working, or owt...

Didn't realise MPs required the service of rentboys at 7.30 in the morning

PMSL well obviously my earnings will be reduced now that Hain's turned it in. Miliband's nicked a lot of my best clients as well since his rise to prominence. The oily little twat.

I work shifts between 8am and 8pm, if I had the choice though, I'd work 8 till 3.45 as it gets it out of the way and then you have a longer evening

After working nights eves and days, I can confirm...i hate working. but seriously, we work too much...just cogs in the wheel...bullshit.

But if i had to pick, even though Im naturally a night owl, my perfect start time would be 10 (like it is at college-i have no probs getting up at 8 (7 is a lost cause...dunno why its only an hours diff) 10 -6, but i hate coming home late in the eves in winter...

can you change depending on the season? that would be good!

I used to do 8-4 and now I do 8.30-4.30 cos I struggled getting up at 7am. I dont get in till 8.45 tho cos Im always late ( I cant get up at 7.30am either!) so I do 8.45-4.45

My last job was 9.30-5.30 which was great in the morning but shit in the evening.

The job before that was 10-3 which was the best

I agree, I used to work shifts in a factory and hated the 2-10 shift. It used to take me over an hour to get to work too, so Id get up have something to eat and then go to work, come home, eat something else then go to bed. For that week I felt like thats all I did was work, it was shit!

Ive done my fair share of shit jobs with ridiculously long hours and journeys, so Im deffo entitled to never work again!

Im just waiting for a response from shoomie or pauly

Ive worked my arse off over the years. You try being a recruitment consultant in central london and then tell me your job is stressful

plus Ive been a hairdresser (very long hours, I used to work 6 days a week and then have to do friends and familys hair)

plus working in a factory is proper hard graft

plus Ive waitressed for crap money and I worked in retail for years which is a very tiring job cos youre on your feet all day and have to deal with the fuckwits of the general public and Ive been a bloody field sales rep, which is a sod of a job!

so you can stick your jaw on the floor and shove it up your arse instead

I did perm nights for about 5 years, it really fucks your system up, not worth it at all.

I dreaded doing a 9-5 after I'd done nights for so long but it was easy to switch back and I slept a lot better - as working nights I only got 3 hours sleep in the day if that
