It's true, I was told this by my brother last year.

Who cares though. . . he is still the Stig!

I was in 2 minds whether to open this as knowing who the stig is takes a bit of the mystique away from the legend, but thought - knowing shooms it'll be a moment of comedy lol

For once I was wrong

I think Perry McCarthy used to be a "Stig" in the past.

I was at the Top Gear track on Monday as one of my suppliers is down there based in a massive aircraft hanger, I stood 5 metres from the finish line bit of the track which was a bit wierd as you usually see it on TV and all that, I was then taken to a secret location on the site where they have a graveyard for all the old crazy cars they make and cars they trash on the show which was even more mad.

The first Stig was sacked for writing at the end of his Biography "Oh and by the way I am the Stig" lol silly cvnt, didnt catch what his name was though.

yeah there have been a few Stigs.
Perry McCarthy was the first, and he outed himself as has been mentioned and got fired for his trouble.
Ben Collins is the current incumbent, but there have been guest Stigs too. Heike Kovalainen was a Stig at one point, I think for one of the bits that featured F1 cars, I'm pretty sure there have been others too... he seems to get taller and then shorter week to week lol.

Cojones of steel on the boy though.

I can't remember... did he ever drive that madness-on-wheels that fried Jason Plato, or was that just Clarkson?
