Favourite musical filmage songs

This immediately springs to mind...

YouTube - Oliver! - Who Will Buy

Love the way it builds & builds with all the vocal layers Sure there's a proper musical word for this but can't remem it / be arsed to google it

Shooms - good choice.

Also . . .As Long As He Needs Me from the same Lionel Bart masterclass!
YouTube - Oliver! - As Long As He Needs Me

Also "My Favourite Things" from The Sound of Music has always seemed stand out to me. Then again in my humble opinion, the entire score of The Sound of Music is genius from Rogers and Hammerstien.
YouTube - My Favorite Things - The Sound of Music

Finally, "You'll Never Walk Alone" from Carousel. . .Yet more genius from Messer's R & H!

YouTube - Carousel."You'll Never Walk Alone".

Yes, good choice, my 3 year old son is well into that song (says a lot about your musical maturity, Shooms ). I downloaded it a while back so we can sing it together in the car.
Much of what we like from films is dictated now by what he gets into- eg. Transformers (not the latest film), but the animated series, which has the worst 80s soft rock/metal soundtrack

Most music of quality is rehearsed and rehearsed again.

I do not have a "love" of all musicals, just as I do not have a love of all music.
However, within every genre, certain works stand out. . including musicals in my opinion.

Rogers and Hammerstien's work was at times musically perfect.

I hate the entire score of Grease though. . .see what I mean???

lol
cant start reclaiming the old testosterone levels now

bet you've spent your flu bout perched delicately on the chaise longe, wearing a pink fluffy robe, wiping ones beak with a silk laced-edged monogrammed hankie, and watching Doris Day films.... "By the liiiight of the siiilvery mooooon"

Anyway, I dont mind musicals , I used to live with my Nan & Grandad when I was a kid so was weaned on a filmage diet of either bloody musicals or spaghetti westerns

anyway, surely Grease must get a mention as an all time great?!
Tell me about it...Stud
