McLaren had the same group of players which sven had, i cant think of anyone who retired after the world cup last year, but McClaren's took them backwards with the same players. The players played shite and they need to take some blame but the England manager (ie a top manager) should be able to get the best out of top players, which McClaren obviously cant, the dithering bastard. The way premiership players wages have gone isnt ever gonna change now, but proper top managers can handle the posers, the egos, man-manage them in the right way to make them gel etc. McClaren isnt in that top manager bracket to handle all this. Get the fucker out, couldnt give a shit whether we could / couldnt have won it next yr, only one team can win it, but not to get there is a total fuck up and he needs to carry the can.

Whats the odds to FA try to set up some Home Internationals next year after cold shouldering the rest of the home nations for years

Its all fine blaming Mclaren sure he needs to go, but he wasnt out on the park playing either, look at the fucking sham of players we had out there?

I said to myself before the game that we didnt deserve to go through, I would have been delighted if we had but I think Croatia could have gone up the park and scored anytime that they wanted.

The whole English game is in tatters now anyhow, Im looking forward to a team of Noobs to give us a needed boost.

Ah well never fancied a trip to Austria or Switzerland anyhow, just saved me some money for a trip to Tokyo

McClaren has gone, sacked, he should have done the decent thing and resigned, but no, he wanted the 2.5 million payout. Shows the character of the man

Over the campaign he got the big decisions wrong, poor tactics for the away games, 1 point from the big 3 games, same points as Israel which is just not good enough. He got it badly wrong last night, the defensive formation, he should never had played an young inexperienced lad in goal for such an important game, and at 2-2 the inexperienced defence who have hardly played together needed help and he did nothing

But we can blame the manager till the cows come home, the whole lot needs a clear out. The spineless clueless FA needs a complete overhaul starting at the top, but that will not happen.

Have to face facts, England were completely outplayed last night, and Croatia deserved to win. They were not good enough. Until they get someone who is strong enough to deal with the egos, and get the team to play in a way where they can keep the fucking ball and not playing with the fear it will be the same old story

you cant sack the players though, plus why do the players suddenly play out their skin when they get back to their clubs.

Anyway, McClaren's just been sacked.

Mclaren was never the man for the job !!! fact !!

why did he take Barry off in 2nd half, no holding player ? playing 1 upfront at home just so he could accomadate Lampard ? Bridge was awful.

gutted about Carsons error for 1st but in my opinion still Englands number 1 and if anything he kept us in game with 2 outstanding saves, hope he isnt remembered for the calamity that they keep showing on TV.

f@@k man, no BBQ next summer watching England games, gutted

I'd like to apologise on behalf of all Villa fans for Carson's error... however the lad picked up confidence & made a couple of great saves later.

The tactics were shit last night but more importantly we played without pride or passion... & we were beaten fair & square by the better team on the night... even knowing they had already qualified & even when they were 3-2 up Croatia STILL pressed forward hungry for goal...

There was some debate on TV this morning whether the England FA should up the financial incentive to play for country. Bollocks. The payment for playment for England IS PLAYING for England. End of.

Shocking tactics, shocking team & if we managed to fluke it through at 2-2 last night we would not have deserved it.

Ah well... no chance of playing up abroad next summer... may have to start a new fad of casual Athletics hooliganism instead

I think your lot would struggle against us at the moment

A thing that really brought it home to me was when we were speaking about rangers and celtic doing so well in Europe recently compared to the last decade or so and the national team also on the resurgence. It was noted that rangers and celtic started buying more homegrown players and actually playing them due to being unable to compete with the english leagues for money for foreign players or even any decent english players.

Contrast that with watching the Arsenal against Man Utd game recently and Arsenal had no english players on the park and only Theo walcutt on the bench. England have great players (slightly over hyped sometimes though) but they do not have a clue how to play with each other as a unit and seem to have an inability to keep the ball when they need to. Heck even Scotland were keeping the ball for long periods against Italy at the weekend and our worst player was Fletcher who is not getting a game due to being out of the first team at Man Utd.

Although McLaren has made mistakes I think the players should carry most of the can and it will be out of the frying pan and into the fire for your next manager

^^^

I personally think it should be an English FA rule that a certain % of players on the pitch have to be English. Put more emphasis on grooming local talent rather than buying success from foreign talent...

Saying that though... Mourinho for England
