How hard is it to find a dentist FFS!

I need a filling, I pissed off my old dentist for cancelling...(plus its in Manc, and Im in Leeds)...

Just ringing round to find a new one (on nhs-as its £40 JUST FOR A CHECH UP on private)....and they were either SHUT -surely they have the weekends off too? Or didn't have any places. Or they were private and didn't have appointments till after christmas and were still going to cost me a bomb because they were private! WTF...whats gonna happen if my tooth fucks up before I can get an appointment?? Am I gonna have to pull it out myself or what????


Agghhrrrr!!!!!


Anyone else having this problem??? Or does anyone know any good dentists around leeds who might be taking on new patients???? or are you a dentist?????lol, ill settle for one in training at this point!

Same for me down the road in harrogate loz.

Had a week of no sleep coz of toothache a while ago, resorted to oil of cloves, neurofen & some of this til i could get an appointment

It is likely to be first come, first served, and you need to be there by 8.30 to get an appointment, but you will have the student do it, while being supervised, so much better chance of a good job.

Lozzie...if you are in Leeds, come over to York. It will cost you about a fiver on the train. We have an NHS Walk in center near Bootham Bar. I had a wisdom tooth and the one next to it taken out, and it cost me £11.50. No need for an appointment.

They may have one in Leeds, there usualy by the Hospital.

Don't envey you m8, tooth ache is the worst

well, after grovelling to my old dentist...ive got an appointment in two weeks! Thank fuck!!!


moral of the story, don't piss off ur dentist, and keep ur appointments...they're very hard to find (and alot sound quite snotty on the fone too!) hahaha

Im going to Manchester Dental Hospital in a few weeks which is the same, its first come first served basis so have to get there early Nothing worse than tooth ache or ear ache

I gave up looking for a dentist in sale/stretford/old trafford/timperley/altrincham.....................yes i printed off a list off the NHS website of EVERY dentist in those areas I phoned practically all of them and could not get a NHS dentist anywhere and no one would see me - one rude biatch of a receptionist told me 'its not their problem' ............i was so angry.

anyway i was in northwich helping someone move house and they lived a few doors up from a dental centre and i walked in and they were taking patients (NHS too!!) so i signed up and they are brilliant. I had to have a filling (which i paid private for as its whiter and better, but the checkup and cleans are on the NHS charges) and now i dont need to go back for 6 months - feel much better now ive got a NHS dentist. I dont really care that I have to drive to Northwich to see a dentist, cos the fact is i actually got one!!!

All I can say is, its a fking good job eddys dad is a dentist!

Last time i tried to get an appointment I was put on a 6mnth waiting list, and i'm still waiting! and they wouldnt prescribe me the drug i needed at the docs cos it was a dental issue, & private/emergency cost a million squid.

Definitely don't piss off your dentist. Or alternatively, go out with one, or his son.

ive not been to the dentist since i was 18!!!
just started to get tooth ache so need my filling renwed,phoned on up in shaw which is 5 mins away and got took on as an nhs patient!!!!hurrah was just lucky

mate know where your coming from. am having trouble with a badly rotten wisdom tooth managed to get a same day apointment at a local nhs dentish for 15 squids. been reaferd to the hospital coz theve gotta mash me up to pull it out sorted out the consultation for this month but they've told me theres a 3 month waiting list for the surgery after the consultation. cheeky bastards at the denist i first went to told me they can sort out a few other things that need doing for the sum of 180 straight away (apparantly they wasnt taking no more nhs patients on so Id have to pay full wack for treatment). found it laughable considering I need the bad tooth out and gotta wait 3 months for the treatment i need doing this minute. someone off here recomended clove oil aint treid it yet as the tooth alright aslong as nowt gets it the rotten part

what do we pay national insure for again???
and I still dont know if the the treatment at the hospital is gonna be free

thats what i had 2 do, they told me 3 months aswell but the 2nd dentist who was there took on a few xtra dayz so i got in after about 1 1/2 weeks ,they ad 2 put me out as i had broke the fucker eating scracthings lol

Well you won't do it again will ya!?!?!!

I think that they just did that to scare you, but he's a good dentist and even if you got into another, they might not be as nice/good as him!!
