I like Christmas. . . just sick of it by the time it arrives!

There should be a law that says no Christmas advertising or displays until the last week of November. A month is long enough in my opinion and a lot of others peoples I'm sure.

It's about time Christmas was reclaimed from the corporations. It should not be about money or how much is spent.

Family together, Sharing food and drink with each other, a season of goodwill, thoughtful gifts for each other (not always expensive), carol singing, decorating the tree, Kids giddy with excitement. . . . oh yes and the birth of Christ if you are religious (not saying I am) and a trip to the Christmas service. . . .without that bit we would not have Christmas at all.

This may sound like a "Walton's" like view of Christmas, but it's what I wish it was like. It still is in some area's, but less so now.

Final bug bear and I'm sure most are gulity of this. . . The use of the word Xmas instead of Christmas.

We have even managed to remove the name of the reason for Christmas from the bloody title!

Piss poor!

Rant over!

I think its perfectly fine Rad for people to celebrate Christmas just for the hell of it without any religion being invloved. I type 'Xmas' because its easier too!

Cheers for the thoughtfull heads up Nics , i shall pop over to Tezzer Top laterz (bizzle) for a festive scan.

I think it's ok for people to celebrate Christmas without religion also, despite it been about as hypocritical as you can get, just like getting married in church if you are a non believer. I never said non Christians should not celebrate it. . .just to be clear. I would not describe myself as a practising Christian, therefore class myself as a hypocrite!
I think you can celebrate the good spirit or message of Christmas, despite not having a faith.

Just think that Christmas for many has ceased to mean anything of real worth and is just a huge money making scam that the masses fall prey to, while money makers rub their hands.

Our local village all gather in the square on Christmas Eve and sing carols. It was telling that while the attendance was huge. . .75% did not know the words to any of them! They wanted to join in, but no longer had the knowledge to do so.

The Xmas thing is just a personal bug bear, I just find it ironic that the word Christ is substituted with an x. I bet most people have probably never thought about it or even care what I'm on about! LOL! Some people genuinely when polled, don't even know why we have Christmas

It is up to each person to decide what is important about Christmas and how to celebrate it.

I was just offering up my own personal feelings about the death of the traditional Christmas and the rise of the consumer led, festival of spending, that is "XMAS" today for a great many.

I was answering the bugbear of the 'Christ' element being removed from the title of Christmas. If you practice atheism then the removal of such a word means nowt, hence me saying thats no problemo (imho), as many celebrate Christmas for the hell of it (like me). You say each person can decide what is important about Christmas and how to celebrate it- but you get pissed off about those who don't correlate it with religious shiz?

Yes and no.

Yes, it's a personal thing and I think it's up to the individual.

No, I don't get pissed off if people don't correlate it to religion. I'm not a Tw^t!

I said I was not religious and therefore a hypocrite. I just think the Xmas thing is a perfect symbol of the removal of the very reason for Christmas.. . .That's all. Again, while it grates on me. . .I don't pull people up for it! I just expressed my normally private opinion on here.

I'm pleased that you and many others enjoy Christmas, it's a fun time of year for most.

Peace on Earth and Goodwill to Mankind and all that jazz.

Not spoiling for a fight! Nics note was addressed to you, my post was just general. You care more about Christmas than some Christians I know mate! That's Ironic!

all this 'Happy Holidays' crap pisses me off big time..

no one stops other religions celebrating their holidays in case it 'offends' anyone..
