apprently they were able to salvage part of the sculpture - it wasn't loaded with fuel and explosives yet, and was due to be burned as usual on Saturday.

Can you imagine the 911 call..

Black Rock County po-po answers, "this here's 911, whut?"

Distressed Burner: "Help! Come to Burning Man immediately! The Man is Burning!"

BRCP: "Who's burning? Someone lit themselves on fire?

Burner: "Nooo.. the man, the statue, the thing we...urm...burn at the end of the week... it's burning!!"

BRCP: "Now let me get this straight. You want us to put the fire out... so you can turn around and burn it up again later?"

Burner: "Urr... yeah. Could you come put it out now, please?"

BRCP: "Yeah, sure. We'll get right on it."
