The news is news though innit. If someone has been shot/stabbed, there's a war whatever, then it has to be reported as the most people who watch the news want info on such current issues. If the news wasn't full of such shiz, what do you want it to be full of- its not news otherwise! Perhaps if you watched Channel Four News you would see that they do actually report on more world wide topics, and do tackle third world issues etc along with more local 'stories'. The reson not every African child death is reported on UK news is that quite obviously there is a death every minwah, it would never be off the screens. Here, thank goodness, its considered quite barbaric and worthy of reporting that one teenager has shot another for nothing other than amusment. In America its commonplace, so these days unless its summat meaty then its not usually on the google box. As for the child labour (an obviously on going problem), it is reported form time to time when developments occur. At the end of the day you could simply choose not to watch it if you dislike it so. I can't stand Grandstand and don't like its content, so i watch something else.

| ..... I agree with what's been said by both of you here.... What's prompted me to add to this discussion is that the news now (compared to even 2 years ago) is always always bad shit.....people gettin murdered kidnappings..... they should try to balance it out a bit more instead of having the pathetic final word about a panda breeding or somet.......not that I have anything against protecting the wildlife.....lol Bob

As you both have made good points , it is sad shit that happens and its reported so we can do something about it . i think it is really sad what is happening but we as readers need to know whats going on . Same as you amelie i cant stand grandstand either.... ![]()

| I know it's stating the bleeding obvious, but too many people die, are kidnapped, raped, tortured, sold into slavery etc to report them all. I suppose then it's all about looking for the most newsworthy stories, or else the news would just become statistics and then few would be interested. Kinda like in Iraq or Pakistan or some other place where 100 or so people would be stood shouting and burning a flag in a square, so the cameras focus on that instead of the miilions of other people there just getting on with their lives. Suppose the critera for any journalist is find a story or make one ![]() |
