They're not usually peeled, ...slice them like you'd slice a pinneapple.

Obviously each to their own though.

i have eaten them peeled & mashed up in an 'egg plant/ aubergine' salad in greece. Was lovely.

Not usually peeled. Cooked skin is a bit like fried tomato skin.
