Pete's chances of a custodial sentence? Nil

But my point being, aside from whether its a celebrity or anyone else, prison is a really shitty place to be, i've seen people I know get sent down for such petty things & its horrible, one split second mistake and the next few years of your life are gone. My friend will be going down for 3-5 years within the next few months...just for trying to make a bit of extra cash on the side...he wasn't hurting anyone. But aye thats the way it has to be...
Yeah it is a shitty place and I dont know if Paris will get special protection but if she doesnt she's gonna get seriously bullied, blackmailed and probably have shit kicked out of her, if not even someone trying to kill her to gain some notoriety and criminal status...

Stay in touch with your mate, a prison letter or a little card with a couple of pics in it means so much more than you think when your writing it

Thanks for that reply misstickle.

Yeah, another friend who was inside for a while said that letters mean everything & phone cards are like gold dust...must be so awful being cut off from everything and everyone you have...don't think I could deal with it...imagine how lifers must deal with it?? I suppose you'd set up your own little world in there...

Hi Miss C,
Don't take this the wrong way or personally. . . please.

If your friend is getting 3-5 years it can't have been that trivial.
I bet they did not declare their profits to the tax man!
People claim dole while working or disability while running half marathons. They claim they were not hurting anyone. . . apart from everyone who pays tax and those who really deserve our help. Wandering a little here, but you get my point.

We have laws and if we break them you have to take it on the chin.
I got done for speeding on a dual carriageway, I had just lost track of my speed, but it was my fault. When the copper told me i was getting fined £60 and 3 points I just accepted it on the spot. Split second mistakes while not looking serious can kill in the most extreme examples. There but for the grace of god go I.

We have a tendency these days to always blame others, rather than take personal responsibility for our actions. It always makes me laugh when people get parking tickets for parking on yellow lines and then blame the warden???????????????????????????????? The lines were there when they parked and they took a decision / risk to ignore them.

I don't care about Paris and struggle to wonder why anyone cares about her life? Why would you?
However, I agree with you that "celebrity" (so called) or not she deserves fair treatment in any court and that is your issue I think.

I already said, thats the way it has to be otherwise the system would fall apart.

It was a drugs offence. So its a 'victimless' crime, so to speak. I didn't say it was trivial. I guess how you feel about that sort of thing is personal to you.

If the law was 100% successful in relation to drugs offences 100% of the time most of my friends and aquaintences would be behind bars. I guess you must feel that is what would be right...christ there would be no-one left. Prisons haven't got room for all those people who.... sneak one pill into a club etc anyway.

As I already said, I think alot of harsh punishments are imposed mainly for policy reasons, end of story.

No that wasn't really my issue, my issue was more about how shit prison is & the harshness of penalties generally.

My only reference to Paris was to say, poor lass, it must be hard to deal with, basically.

Hi Miss C,

I did not know it was drugs and I think the law is an ass in many respects on this issue. However, I doubt your mate was sneaking one or two into a club. I suspect it was more involved than that?? Therefore he took that risk for a few lousy quid knowing it was highly illeagal and I bet he regrets it now? Personal responsibility, he had a choice. For what it's worth, I feel sorry for him as it will be tough as you say.

I know you did not say it was trivial, you made light of it.

I certainly do not agree with locking everyone up as me and most of my friends would be behind bars also! However, if you get caught you have to expect punishment that's all I meant.

As I said no offence intended to you. Don't want this thread to go the way of the mosque!

You are quite right, your original point was that prison is shit and difficult to deal with. To some extent that is the point, or instead of booking a holiday we would just punch a copper! That was a joke by the way!

I agree that there is great inequity in jail terms for different crimes though.

Often serious violent offenders can get less time that someone done for a big fraud!

Take it easy!

No, the situation with my mate and the point about what it would be like if the law on drugs were 100% successful were separate, if you look. Of course it was more than a few pills.

Yeah you do have to expect punishment & its your fault if you take the risk, and of course part of the point of prison is that its shit, i'm just expressing my sentiments of pity for anyone who has to go there, particularly when they've committed 'victimless' crimes.

Apparently everybody else thinks people who commit a crime deserve the time they get (which is often very disproportionate), which is ironic since that would mean most of us deserve to be in prison!

Anyway as this thread has turned into one big fat understanding of the original point I think its best left there.
