And did those feet in ancient time
Walk upon englands mountains green?
And was the holy lamb of god
On englands pleasant pastures seen?
And did the countenance divine
Shine forth upon our clouded hills?
And was jerusalem builded here
Among those dark satanic mills?

Bring me my bow of burning gold!
Bring me my arrows of desire!
Bring me my spear: o clouds unfold!
Bring me my chariots of fire!
I will not cease from metal fight;
Nor shall my sword sleep in my hand
Till we have built jerusalem
In englands green and pleasant land.

Note the words British empire

Happy St.George's Day

Although you wouldn't know it if you were driving around today. The only places I've seen St. George mentioned is outside pubs on blackboards, 'celebrate St.Georges Day - Carling £1.50 all day', that sort of thing. God forbid the council actually recognise the patron saint of England.

BTW did you know St. George was actually a soldier in the Roman Empire who was from modern day Turkey. He is also the patron saint of Portugal, Canada, Macedonia, Greece, Georgia and er...Ethiopia.
