I used to worry about what people think of me all the time, but now I really don't give a stuff.
We all have our own thoughts and beliefs, and there is always gonna be someone to come along and question it, that's just life.
But the people who love you for who you are - they are the ones to hang on to. If people don't like you, it's their problem not yours in my opinion.

ill always be who i am but i get well upset wen people take me the wrong way... i try my best never to hurnt ne1, like id be different with some people if i new something i usually do wud upset them or piss them off, but then agen those people wudnt be my bestest mates. proper mates r the people ur totally urself with, and they accept u that way, even if it means being a dick every now n agen! lol

i think people shud care - but not to the extent that theyd change...

id b upset if sum1 didnt like me, but as long as i new why, id just except it. even if i new sumone didnt like me it wudnt stop me going outa my way for them, even if i knew they wudnt do the same for me. its not that im doing it for them... im just doing it coz otherwise id feel really bad if i knew i cud of been nice or helped them out n i just hadnt. its kinda hard to explain... i dont be nice coz i wont people to like me, coz im not too bothered bout that (although its a good way of making friends!) id jus do it coz otherwise itd upset me n make me feel guilty. i no im a geek but i cant help it!

one thing im not tho is two faced - sod that!!! way too much effort!

I care what people think about me to a certain extent, but people do make up their minds about people sometimes when they havent even met them. Everybody has an opinion on everyone, whatever it is, alot are probably totally wrong and made up by what they've heard by someone else.

I used to care alot more when i was younger, but nowadays if people dont like me then thats up to them, whoever they are.... im me and thats that, either you like me or you dont, im not gonna loose any sleep over it. And tbh the only person who knows you totally is yourself and if you think your an alright person then fck anyone else.

Im deffo not two-faced, i would never make any effort with someone i didnt get on with, and i dont suck ass ..... im pretty much the same person with anybody i meet, unless its like at work and me boss or owt then im slightly toned down (but sometimes youve gotta be like that in certain situations) ...and then theres other people that bring out a daft side of me etc etc ... so im still me, just slighty different if that makes sense.

I smile alot, im a smiley person, that used to get confused with being false. ..... or being thick, lol.... oh theres that dumb blonde who smiles and laughs alot, she must be thick and a right push over..... hehe funny when they realize your not the person they thought you were.

Seriously tho, if someone has a problem with "who i am" thats there problem, my aim in life is to live and be happy, if my happiness bothers someone else then fk em. Regarding those closest to you they will think your sound as a pound, if they didnt they wouldnt be those closest to you, at the end of the day the main thing is to be able to say yeah i can hold my head up high and do right where needed, there is always going to be someone with other opinions and other views unfortunatly thats the way the world is, nothing can cchange that, but the one surefire thing in this thing called life is you got to be true to yourself, the moment you stop being true to yourself might aswell be the moment you take your last breath.

Have read most of the replys (which is unlike me )....An interesting read..
I think peoples opinions of me vary from 'Quiet, Shy ' to 'mad wreckhead'.
But it takes takes along time in my opinion; to truley get to know someone (properly), instead of just making your own assumptions of what you think their all about.
I don't act 'Differently' as such around different groups of people (maybe 'Appropriately' - ie. in the pressence of people from work etc ).
One thing that I do tend to do is be quite shy for some reason , I don't know why, and never used to but...takes me a while to come out of my shell around new people.
For example: I've know quite a few people off the board for a while now, and enjoy going out with em' and 'Stuff' but still don't feel fully able to let go and be as I am with me mates that I've known for 8-10 years...

I try and be nice to everyone, purely because "it's nice to be nice", and don't think I really do anything that could cause anyone to think I'm a C*nt, and if they do then they've missunderstood me and therefore, there the c*nt, not me.

I dont really care what people think of me, never have really, i just get on with it, ill call a spade a spade n not behind ur back. ur opinion is ur opinion. ive weeded out the people who try to be summit there not, big ego's n all that, ive no time for it, spesh false peeps, n ive known a few.

I have probs the one friend who is very opinionated, and even though these kind of people grate me sometimes, this person has a heart, n thats the peeps to be with, people with a big heart. they get on with people make em happy, dont hold grudges, know how to enjoy themselves n will be ur friend for life.

So forget about peeps who have bad opinions of you, n aim for the peeps with big hearts, they're the best to be with, the most fun n happy. thats why im with my nic, she's got the biggest heart, always smiling n keeps me happy n so do my circle of friends.

Aim for peeps with BIG LOVE n not peeps with tooo many opinions on everybody else n not themselves. like you said 'if they dont like you for who you are then they are not worth the steam off the preverbiable'.

I'm a bit reserved when i first meet people, only due to the fact I 1.observe people first, 2.don't think you should fully give yourself to peeps before you know them, there's plenty of peeps who do deserve ur full...before them.

Actually, on reflection, I think everybody cares what others think of them to a certain extent, because if a person/s dislike you, they're going to treat you accordingly and generally influence others to dislike you, and the less that people like you, the worse you're generally going to be treated, and few people enjoy being treated like shit/not listened to or not accepted, it feels awful.

Obviously as you get older and meet more like minded open minded people you're less likely to have that problem, but hypothetically speaking for the sake of the thread, I guess it would bother me if I was disliked. After all, isn't life all about the relationships we forge with others?

One thing i've noticed, the more people try to be something other than themselves, the less people like them anyway, because it becomes really obvious and irritating, trying too hard is really unattractive.

And yeah, the more people like you the better it feels, the more appreciated and loved I feel, the more my confidence is boosted, obviously others opinions can't govern a persons self-esteem 100%, you've got to have control of that yourself, but I definitely do think it has some impact.

Lora that dont sound silly at all, im exactly the same really.
i do care what people think, like you said, its only coz i like bein nice and id want to know why they didnt like me, and id feel bad because they didnt like me.

But i think everyone has to understand people will have some sort of an opinion of you even if you have only just met them, but thats only natural.

I cant say i wud change the way i am for anyone, but i wud want to change their opinion of me if it was a bad one.
Also, i couldnt act differently than myself (im shite at acting and lying anyway lol), i mite be slightly different round different people, but thats only coz im not a very loud person myself, and i bounce off people who are around me
