I certainly do care what people think of me. I always want people to be aware of certain things about me, ie. that im not thick....that im a girly girl etc.

On the other hand....I really couldn't care if people don't like me after getting to know me. Winds me up when people judge others. I think to some extent I have stopped caring about how people view my opinions....well....getting better anyway.

I don't really care what people think of me coz I can't/won't change for anyone so it's pretty tough if they don't like how I am.

If I want to go out with no make-up on or looking casual then I'll do it and I don't really care.

Stuff like worrying what other people think isn't worth the effort.

I think everybody cares what people think of them, unless the person making the judgement is lower than a snakes belly in your opinion!!!.

Its interesting how many people say they dont care when they actually will care!. Its fashionable and hardnosed to say you dont care, but I think everybody cares deep down!

Loads of people think Im a right cock end, others think Im just a mega geek, others view me as utter scum from time to time. I care about that. Its important to have an awareness of what others say about you (or why people you thought were good friends avoid you like the plague and shun you) because it keeps you on your toes!.

I understand what you're saying to a certain extent. If a good friend or family had what I thought an unjust opinion of me then I'd be pretty gutted and want to know why. But if it was just anybody then why should I care?? They're not part of my life so who gives a......

People do care what others think about them and they should, to avoid hurting people, having the ability to please people and to stop you getting killed!

Used to care a lot what people thought and acted to fit in with that. But learnt that aint the way to live, you should be yourself and be true to yourself. I now have the attitude of "this is me, this is my truth" has worked quite well so far, apart from with Mis Tickle who just takes the piss whatever I do, but that is all to do with Dr Sues. I think it depends upon the circumstances. For example I'd be mortified if I thought I'd upset one of my mates or family and obviously what they think of something I say/ do matters but then again, being my friends I expect them to tell me if I'm being an arse (common occurrence!) or if they think something I've done is good. I don't see that as being the same thing as worrying about what they think of me though as friendships are about having your ups and downs and I know that I can be so infuriating that one day my friends will love me and then others they could happily chuck me off a cliff!!! We'll always get through it in the end though.

In terms of work, I'm there to do a job not make friends and if I have to break a few eggs etc etc then I will. It would be preferable and make my working day easier to get on with the people I work with but I'm not interested in being their best buddy, I already have plenty of friends thanks and with that in mind, I'm not too bothered what they think of me. As long as they can be professional and get on with it that's enough.

If it's people I don't know or friends of friends who I've just met, I don't give a rat's ass what people think. I am who I am and you'll either like me or you won't. I'm not prepared to change who I am to suit someone else's view on what they were expecting before they met me.

Obviously you'll love me though cos I'm fab and I have great breasts!!

In the last year or two, Ive had many people I classed as friends leave me and not even speak to me anymore because they have decided to cast me adrift because they dont understand some aspects of my life.

This type of "what others think of you" is hard to take sometimes because they just leave you and dis associate with you because they are either scared or dont appreciate some things which have shaped your life.

We all judge people so perhaps its not unfair to be judged in return also but as for me I dont care what people think aslong as I dont respect them as people or thier opinions..........for example I dislike the celeb drug headz types because of thier blatent and unashamed immorality, degeneracy and excess, and I wouldnt give two monkeys how "sad" they thought I was for not being like them, or what they thought of me generally!, and Im sure they would be likewise in return!

Its when people you care about suddenly alter thier behaviour and think things about you and judge you on what they think they know about you which hurts and bothers me. You cant help think "oh shit, what must I be doing?" and helps you reassess, but on the other hand if you know that you cant be anyone else but you, you just have to let them judge you and let them move away.

Its perhaps like if youre gay, and you finally 'come out', and finding that family members and friends since school treat you differently, dont call you anymore, dont talk to you the same its very cutting because they think of you differently......but if some guy in the street shouts "pufter!" I could just say he was a tosser and wouldnt care what he thought because he never knew me!.
