Paternity Leave

Someone at work went off on Paternity Leave this week , and got me thinking... this is a relatively recent thing isnt it? Doesnt seem all that long to me that blokes didnt used to really get any . Dads on the board... did you get any when your children were born?
Think he has two weeks off as far as I know . Dont know if thats the standard time or what. I think it should be more actually , a month at least

Was just wondering really, think its the 1st time I've come across a male colleague being off for this, which seems a bit odd and made me think it cant have been around for too many years

That is all.

I think the men should carry on working, instead of scrounging time off

Why should a company have to pay for slackers?

I think the 2 weeks have been around for a while now, and i also think having that special bonding time with your child is very important esp if you are the normal breadwinner and will be at work all day, having a couple of weeks off to get to know your newborn is just as important to a male as it is to a female.

armando had leave with both our little ones.........i think the law is 2 weeks at £100 but most employers do their own thing, he had 1 week paid but was entitled to take another week unpaid.

I got two weeks off with full pay.

The two weeks must be taken within 8 weeks of puppage, although why anyone would wait a couple of weeks is beyond me.

To be honest, after a whole week of non-stop crying and no sleep I nearly rang my gaffer up and begged him to let me back to work

P.S Got another two weeks lined up for the end of next April. Glutton for punishment.

yea this is quite a new thing. i took 3 weeks off with both of my kids.
you cant just fuck off 2 work & expect your wife 2 get on with it.
the laws have changed a lot over the last few yrs. all dads r entitled
to 3 weeks UN PAYED (jiglo) leave a yr until there youngest kid is 6.
this is a good thing as my wifes job is as good as mine if not better so if
she has a work commitment i just take the day off. its also good 4 the odd
party or gig
