I played the drums - guitar - piano - recorder and treble recorder never kept up with any of them after i left school although i have got myself an accoustic guitar and a steal string with every intention of playing again when i can lessons are so expensive tho and itll take me ages to get to grips again without tuition

Music is a good thing to get into

arrgh lottie, feel for ya - i used to play the recorder , what a bloody racket

and no, I wont make any 'sid james' style jokes either about anything else

the triangle is the most ridiculous instrument ever , surely

I'd like to be able to play the piano better than i do, and also the saxaphone would be pretty funky, and the guitar. A mate of mine is shit-hot on guitar and used to be in a band etc.. and ive said before i'd like him to teach me but being arsed to put it into practise (on both our parts) is another story

Recorder at primary school and triangle at secondary. My music teachers must have had proper drug or gambling addictions as it was the most underfunded subject in the whole school

I wanted to play the drums, but they gave them to softarse the teachers pet

We were all ace on our recorders back in primary school though

Im 28 verging on 29, and nah, we had no such computers or owt at school.

We learnt to type on typewriters, not even electronic typewriters LOL. We had BBC Micro's about the fourth year of high school, along with some new version of some BBC thing later in the year lol.

For Music we had a teacher that looked like the jester off renta-ghost

There were these casio keyboards that had about 80 sounds on them, and sticky tape with A, F, G stuck to all the keys. Music class comprised of sitting there with a pencil and a paper musical note book and pressing random keys that could be made for some form of tune (god knows what, just something that sounded like music of some sort), and we had to write the 'tune' down in clefs and all that bollocks.

One lad called David Barnes who I was freinds with at junior school (and a bit of highschool) got to play the drums, and later went on to be a drummer in a local gigging band before he joined the armed forces.

What was amusing about the creepy bearded freak that took us for music was that he had this 'back room' packed with studio gear......which funnily enough only the girls got to go into for 'special tuition'.......the mucky sod. .

Oh, and he did the school orchestra and during christmas carol season where the pupils had to sing in assembly, and he would just take the piss of people singing every year, you know, going "#Blaaah blaaaah blaaahh#? What the hell was that you mopey sods!?"....lol.

I will give him his due though, the school orchestra was excellent and he was really good at it. We often had rousing renditions of the Beatles' Hard Days Night on Parents evenings, and was quite awesome to behold I must say.

I only did music when I wasnt allowed to do any more woodwork, cos I kept getting A+ for all my practical and written work lol. They put me in Drama class for a while and for a stammerer that was a NIGHTMARE , the bastards. He was a smug little bastard too, and had his own back room with a f'king BED in it!!!!!!. I shit you not.

But, to give him his due he was a good drama teacher when he could be arsed. Much like the music teacher I think they were frustrated artists who'd found themselves having to work as a teacher.

Christ don't talk to me about musical instruments. My whole family are musical fruitcakes, since I was a kid i've had instruments rammed down my throat.

My dad is an amazing drummer. He's won every award under the sun, including BBC drummer of the year on numerous occasions. He has loads of CD's out in shops lol, the goon. He mainly plays jazz music and thats his love. He plays loads of other instruments too but drums are his forte. He taught the guy who plays bongo's for Joy sometimes lol.

My mum plays the trumpet, the guitar and the piano, and teaches piano lessons locally as well as her day job. And my brother is fcking amazing on the drums too, finished all his grades, plays all over with different bands.

Our house is full of instruments, there are a few piano's/ keyboards, all sorts of trumpets.guitars/trombones/other random brass & percussion instruments in the attic, and to top it all off, we have an entire converted sound proof room in our garage with a humongous drum kit and percussion/symbol set where my dad practically lives when he's not working.

My cousin is a concert pianist, my auntie and uncle are both really talented musicians too, they run a 60 piece brass band and my uncle heads all sorts of orchestras. Most of our family friends are strange musical folk.

So as I said, rammed rammed RAMMED down my throat. They sent me to yammaha music school to learn piano and to read music etc when I was about 3 . Then forced me into lots of string instrument lessons, which I promptly quit after a bad incident with a violin lol.

I'll stop there lol. You get the picture though

Gosh that was a long post.
