Anyone had shingles and if so, how did it start?

I've had it & from time to time it rears it's ugly head again

I caught it from unprotected sex with a stranger... I was young & drunk & protection was the last thing on my mind.

One night of wild amazing passion with no thought or concern about the consequences turned into many years of embarrassment & itchyness...





























Oh wait.... Shingles..... sorry..... thought you said Syphilis....

Ave had it, If youve got it get to your doctor coz if you dont get treatment for it quickly you get nerve damage, I went to the hospital and told me to take pain killers end up my Doctor had to come out and give me the correct medication, Good luck!!!

Started with ppain around my side(between my waist and side lateral) Doc told me it comes from Chicken pocs!!!! Get it sorted m8, you dont want to get the nerve damage, Its fouking sore!!!

Amelie here. Itching/tingling of the lips is common early on, along with general flu like symptoms, perhaps a localised rash that follows the nerve pattern along the trunk or summat, but that is usually later.

Right, basically I've got a funny tingling sensation just above my left tit, and around my armpit and round to the back of my shoulder. Kind of feels like a cross between sunburn and a graze, where a very fine layer of skin has been scraped off. There's no redness or spots or anything.

Shingles was something my mum just suggested it might have been, but I guess I'll wait a day or two and see what happens, it only started yesterday afternoon so I'll not get too worried just yet.

If you think you got shingles then get the doc out and get checked out. It can be quite nasty when your an adult and can result in some severe nerve damage. Ive not had shingles but when i was 18 I got a very bad dose of Chicken Pox and i was really ill for over 2 weeks with them, if they had developed into shingles it would have been awful. I was lucky.

Cheers Sue, I found that page earlier when I was mooching through loads of medical sites.

Tis a propper strange sensation. First sign of any spots or rash though and I'll get straight down to the docs

Tim love have you by any chance chaged you washing powder or conditioner just lately?? And or have you been wearing a T-shirt with an emblem in the area of the foresaid tingle?

Think about that for me???

Or have you eaten anything that you normally have never had lately?? Because if so it could be a food intollerance to some sort of ingredient! If you can answer yes to any of the above then your going to be ok!!

If not, well with shingles, well babes you'd know about it by now... I can remember our kid got shingles and it happend proper quick as!! And as Ameile said above, and he became ill with the "Rash" really fast.... Promise me if your feeling at all odd that you will go to the quacks for me straight away cause you dont want to piss around with Shingles chick!!

I had chickenpox twice as a child, even tho the experts reckon it cannot really happen, and when our kid got it, well they put us both into Isolation for a bit, but I didnt get it because of having the pox twice they then reckond that I had built up an immunity... So have you ever had the pox??

I've not changed anything recently. Same washing powder, same deoderant, same clothes, same everything

I had chicken pox when I was at primary school. It totally sucked. Frig knows how many bottles of calamine lotion I went through!

Yeah I promise to go straight to the quacks if I start feeling wonky.

Yes make sure you do.... As Ive said tho Tim our kids rash came pretty much instantaionous... How is your back side feeling btw? This is not meant to be a funny question as Shingles normally attacks your buttocks really really badly and the surrounding areas!!

If that area feels ok then your buzzing Tim!!
