Let me ask, are people tied up and forced to read anything in the comfort of thier own houses?.

If people dont like threads like this, or heated debates on topics THEY dont want to see or hear about, then its simple......dont read it, dont get involved. People shouldnt censor what is and isnt acceptable, whether it be chillout or not.

What the hell is wrong with people?. I thought we were a civilised society which could discuss and debate, and even get insulted and upset, and just carry on. Its increasingly the case that people pipe up and make lame excuses as to why such and such isnt the place, that "this is a music forum" and all the rest of it. If people are sick of adult discussions which go deeper than somebody's favourite blend of tea, and others are incapable of sensible and rational debate without mud flinging and name calling personal insults, then these people shouldnt get involved and just ignore them, nobody forces them to read it or participate. If you do read it, and are so outraged you have to reply, that is your own decision, and upto the individual to be able to argue thier point professionally and courteously and be answerable for what they put.

Its no wonder this country is such a mess, nobody likes to have any 'bother', its too much 'bother' and potential cause of ruining a good time to even think of allowing irate matters to arise lol.

The thread which was removed was indeed a rather blunt and unsophisticated red rag to a bull, it had no depth to it, no definition, and after about 5 replies it had gone onto immigration and jobs which has nothing to do with race at all, cos everybody is well and truelly incapable of deciphering the difference anymore as the media and the government and the bloody commies have purposefully smudged and muddled peoples brains.
As it was pretty weak, Im glad I didnt get involved cos I would have gone off on one, but that doesnt mean to say people shouldnt do these things, I just wish it was handled better by all concerned.

People (and I dont mean any particular people) keep saying theres resentment and bitterment, and endless hassle, yet I dont see that at all. I cant remember in the last 4 years any time where a debate got that out of control that it disintegrated the forum or even got people that much at somebodies throat that they punched them out or cause crap for the other person endlessly as retribution or whatever else. People plant this suggestion that its always a ballache so that it gives weight to thier own beliefs that discussions that are hot potato's should be nipped in the bud as not to spoil the hippy vibe.

Anyway, I dont know what Im bothering replying for, nobody listens anway

sirius i have read your post and do agree with most of what you say. I myself have passionate beliefs and on few times have joined in on debates. i am not saying not to discuss these issues on here but maybe better thread entitlement would eliviate the problem that some peeps find they have entering such a thread or a seperate section for debates. This is only an opinion of my own and is no way intended to be forced upon peeps....

I'd happily listen to anyone's argument & make up my own mind afterwards based on my own thoughts / judgements / morals... I may be swayed by the certain points of the argument or I may disregard the whole lot as not for me....

The point being is that I would've come to that conclusion myself as a free-thinking adult individual... as opposed to being spoon-fed what people are 'allowed' to view or hear.

That's the 'real world' view of censorship... as for t'internet n OSA in particular people have to respect that this is Butty's house & we're all his guests... you wouldn't grind yer feet on someones couch would you ? Butty's house therefore Butty's rules..

i dont have a problem with people having a debate but from past experience people cant have a civilised debate about certain subjects.

sirius these topics are a ballache or they wouldnt have to be dealt with would they?

you may not see everything that happens on the forum but i do, i and the mods would rather not have to spend many a hour moderating stuff id rather everything ran smooth as hell and i can sit there n chill with a beer n watch the world fly by.

unfortunately things dont happen like that. and scenarios get to the points where youve gone round in circles that many times that you begin to realise that you have to cut subjects like this out of the equation.

that aint the forum censoring thats the forum combatting a repeated problem of heads on there not being able to keep things civilised, otherwise those steps would not have to be taken as there wouldnt be a problem lol

its one of them things. people have strong views, and where strong views are coming to the simmer then ultimately people end up arguing. i dont want arguments on here. ive said it before n l say it again, if i want a argument id get married

theres plenty of places on the net to go and air these views or discuss these topics, and if something has gotta b done for the benefit of the forum as a whole then il do it.

this isnt unusual, i know of many a forum that dont allow certain hot topics, which as i know first hand end up causing more hassle than there worth
