i grew up listening to all the old classic tunes, but couldnt go out to the clubs obviously as i was only ten at the time. but i remember looking at front pages of the sun, the ones that demonised dance music, and thinking 'i want some of that, it looks absolutely wicked'

but obviously when i was actually old enough to go out, none of that existed, and the tunes that were out were loads different, but i got well into my trance and then HH and techno etc etc but basically anything with a beat and some cool top end is fine in my book. but Old skool is equally wicked, i dont know as much about it as u lot do (being able to ID a tune from a few bars - u nutters lol) but i recognise a good tune when i hear it, and thats all that matters.

when im on this board i'll chat shite with the best of them, but dont bother talking about trance or HH, cos whats the point. this is an OLD SKOOL board, its what the internet is about, finding groups of people who are into the same stuff as u. when i wanna talk about trance choonage, i'll go to a trance website, when i wanna talk about football, i'll go to a footy website, when i wanna talk about sex with cuddly toys.....oops, went a bit too far. and when i wanna tlak a load of nonsense wit ha load of madheads i come on here. lol

there are commercial choons granted, but i can guarantee u that these are never or hardly ever played in proper clubs - they are made by money grabbing merchants who dont understand what the scene is all about, just to make a quick buck or two, and are pretty much universally hated by proper hardcore clubbers. thats happened before i think, to old skool perhaps?? and some of the tunes that are properly loved by clubbers, will never EVER get played on radio 1, because they are just not friendly to the ears of people who are not involved in the scene: too loud a bass, too much build up, too difficult ot put crappy lyrics over, whatever.

but its not proper clubbers: its the beer drinking lager louts who cause the trouble: most clubbers are friendly and approachable and wouldnt dream of starting afight, they are there for the right reason: the tunes, and not just cos it stays open till 6 in the morning so thats extra drinking time.

I agree with a lot of the points made on here but Hekkers is right too. When we were out & about in the early 90's not much of what we were doing was legal so it had the undergound vibe that I think is what we loved (putting the music aside). These days as things become the 'norm' & people accept that certain *ahem* things are gonna happen at the weekend it doesn't have the same exceitement to it as it did then.

The people will always love the music from their own era in 10 years time no matter what was being played. Even the kids of today will look fondly back on S Club 7 just as we looked back fondly on Wham once upon a time because that's their era.

Recently I've been to a coupld of HH clubs & on in Bradford is members/invite only to get round licencing laws (I think) therepfre it's invited guests only & cos of that it's got the old underground vibe that we all know & love. I went there last month & I'm going again this month - I LOVED IT !!!!
