hi there people, thought i'd come and introduce myself.

My names Ben Edwards and i live in newcastle in stoke on trent.

My passion for old skool came when i overheard tapes older friends had of daz willot/sasha etc at shelleys in which you could hear the crowd on the tape and an mc, which left me curious as to what was going on.(i was into guns and roses at the time).
my dad used to live on more or less the same road that shelleys was on(the row of terraces next to the three tuns pub) and had to walk past there every friday. Now if you don't know longton, it aint the nicest of places especially at night, but when i had to walk past shelleys, the car park would be full of people,and they would always say hello as you walked past, which at the time thought was a bit strange(not knowing they were off their tits) but made me wonder what the fuck was going on in there!

time went by and by the time i was old enough to go clubbing(well nearly 17) we all dared ourselves to try and get in to kinetics christmas bash(shelley's/entropy had since been shut down).
carl cox was playing(who was and still is GOD) sy, slipmatt, brisk, ratty. could not fuckin beleive it when we got in, we got our drinks and seriously did not leave the same spot all night(i couldnt walk for a week)
i've never looked back since.

wanted to start mixing so got myself some decks on my 17 birthday(so i'll have been dj'ing for 7 yrs exactly tmoz!!)
they were that shit they didnt even have pitch control and the mixer didnt have a crossfader!!(suppose thats what you get for £100!) but i think that has helped me in the long run.

not really done any major big gigs but i do a not so legal night in stoke called the basement, which as you might of guessed is in a basement which has been converted to a little club and still runs now. we carried this night to keele university, which i've always wanted to play after going to "shimee" nights. both of these i play hard house/trance which i like but cant play old skool much.

until now.
i'm going to be working in ibiza this season playing old skool
in a 1000 capacity club in san antonio bay. the company is caled MANIMAL and they are basically tring to create the hacienda type crowd and atmos. the happy mondays are booked for 12 dj sets(god knows what workin with bez and shaun ryder is goin to be like!) hopefully this is going to work really well with all the old skool revival thats going on at the mo. apparently twice as nice went to ibiza not really known but made there name in the club where we are going.
i'm going have to shut up cus you've probably fallen asleep by now.

Youre not boring anyone mate Its great when new people come along and tell us a bit about themselves, it might be a bit intimidating at first (I know I felt like that), as you think everyone knows everyone, but all peeps on here are really friendly and Im sure you'll fit in just fine

....and seeing that M Jaxx intoduced you to the place, youve met the scariest person on here already !!! The rest of us arent half as bad !!! j/j M Jaxx babes !!!

Hi again Ben - I agree with Sweet, of course you're not boring anyone.

I was a Kinetic regular too - what a supercool club & a top atmosphere even if (as you say) the place was rough as a badgers bottom!!! The car park was always getting raided & all sorts of scallies hanging about but it was all part of the fun !!!

Glad to see you're posting & if you're form Stoke - oh dear....do you know Alan !!?? Bless you'll get over that eventually.....just keep taking the tablets !!! j/k Al sweetie !! xxxxxxxx
