But we wanna go on some nights out while we are there, fairly cheapish but not scary rape/scum holes.....as we are students and all. Dont wana be ripped off to go and stand in some poser type place all night!

We are stayin round the notting hill area, can anyone recommend any good nights out please?

Most clubs are in horrendous dumps of areas, so taxis are a bit of a must. And most of it is expensive, that's just London.

The Key, the Cross and Egg on York Way in Kings Cross are great for clubbing. For bar hopping try Camden, Upper Street in Angel or the area around old street. They are my favourites for North London anyway. Soho seems popular with the girls and the gays!

Neighbourhood in Ladbroke Grove (Near Notting Hill) was great. You should check what is on there though.

I'd recommend Neighbourhood as well especially if you were planning on staying local to Notting Hill as it is walking distance.
Cracking venue but it really depends whats on there.

That said that area of West London is full of media darlings - who are a little bit up themselves. More aspiring actors per square foot than anywhere else in London.

yea i really liked camden, there are a few nice bars near the canal.

i stayed near angel wen i went, its a nice area but it depends wat ur into. i went to turnmills on a friday night which isnt too far away from there. Some people also like leicester square for bars. only thing is like someone said, u really need to get taxi's which are really expensive.

Upper Street is my 'hood & is belter for pubs/bars (Highbury & Islington/Angel Tube Stations).
there's also a few restaraunts etc. round there for scran which aren't too expensive. If you're there on a Thursday night, The Winchester just off Upper Street has live DJs & 2-for-1 cocktails all night if you go into the centre of town it'll be no better & loads dearer, but if you must do the West End then for bars try Covent Garden or Leicester Square. Or the backstreets sort of behind Oxford Street also have some good bars.

If you go to Camden there are a load of bars round there too, some with late licences. Oh! Bar, is nice & chilled, but I like The Purple Turtle down there, which is more of a moshy/indie/studenty crowd. Great atmosphere & good mix of all sorts of music (if you like that sorta thing) plenty of wierdos in there, & they're open late too. Right next door is The Camden Palace for yer hoose music. Always used to be reet in there but I haven't been for yonks.

I've never been to the Winchester, in fact I can't picture it. Its not the old Queens head is is?
That's also on Essex road and has a good night upstairs on a Fri. If you go out in North London on Thurs give us a bell Amy I'll meet you for a couple after work.

I live 8 mins walk from Highbury tube Eliv8, and been saying I'll meet up with Danny one night soon. Will give you a shout if you fancy it.

Nah, Brown's has gone right downhill recently.
Yer better off in The Griffin off Grey's Inn Road.
Shitehole pub, put top top quality entertainers.

Best of the lot though is Venus on Farringdon Road,
15 quid to get in & a score a dance, but open till 3. House "champagne" is £125 a bottle. Tell ya tho mate they are all a cut above. Really lovely girls and the "no contact" rule has recently been abolished

cheers mate, drop us a note & if I'm aboot I'll stop off for one (or two lol)
Winchester is at the Upper Street end of Essex Road, next door to the S&M Restaraunt (if you know it) which, incidentally, is a top stop-off point for quality late night bangers & mash action

I must have walked past it a thousand times. Is it the old Islington Bar and Grill, with a club downstairs?! Am sure thats it. The penny drops. I like a pint in the Camden Passage just by there, proper old man's boozer with a Jukey.

Tht S&M cafe is the one from Quadrophenia I'm pretty sure.

I like this place a lot as well Amy, get the Central line to Liverpool St and its a 5-10 min walk (should be safe as well as lots of people about)

Doesn't ring a bell. Most of the bogs in London are in the basements mind.

Its my Dad's 70th that weekend, but not sure if he is doing anything yet. Will be on for it if I'm in the smoke for definite.
