Does anyone else get lots of cold calls, trying to sell u crap from India?

I get loads of em now, and i changed my home phone recently.

Why is it that they cant understand that if i wanted to buy something, id get up of my own arse and sort it meself.

question today was Im Calling about your mobile phone...I answer yes Ive got one, and put the phone down

Yeah it's annoying as feck. Covo went something like this...

Cow - Hello my name is blah blah I'm calling about your T-Mobile contract...

Me - Are you actually from T-Mobile?

Cow - No, I'm...

Me (buts in) - So you're just trying to sell me something

Cow - I'm looking to be able to save you money on your monthly phone bill

Me - I doubt you will be able to

Cow - How much do you pay per month

Me - That's none of your business. How much do you charge?

Cow - *quotes more than double what I'm paying* Yeah, and you'll get 800 free texts per month

Me - What do I want with 800 texts a month? I'm not 12 years old. If I want to tell someone something I'll phone them up. I probably send 1 a week, if that.

Cow - So you wouldn't be interested in the offer then?

Me - No, and don't call me again.

I get the same thing : mobile phone companies trying to get me to switch to them. No thanks!! im happy with the provider i am with and have been for the last 3 years but they can be darn persistant.

I got right ratty one day with one company who made 3 calls to me about the same thing in two days - i ended up saying p***off to the person on the phone and said id sue them if they ever called me again. it had really begun to do do my head in. And they wont tell you where they got your num from....gits !!! grrrrrr

I cant stand cold calling - i am quite able to get up and buy what ever i want i dont need some muppet to ring me up and try and sell me something i dont want or need.

How to deal with cold calling in a polite way

When some one calls up trying to sell summit, tell them your really interested and lead them up the garden path - when you've got them hooked, pretend theres a knock at the door and tell them "don't go away, i'll be right back" go and make yourselve a cup of tea sit down and drink it and then maybe 5 mins later return to the phone.

"Hello, that kitchen/phone/double glazing offer -ehhhhh i've changed my mind thankyou" and hang up.

He pretends to be just out of rehab, AND mentally unsatble after agreeing to loads then says 'you best talk to my mum cus i can't make choices for myself', and passes it to me. Politeness stops me from just putting the phone down, God i hate it when it happens.

It's a scheme set up to stop cold calls to your number.

I registered about 6 months ago and have not had a call since.
If anyone cold calls, you are within your rights to sue the company and the individual.

So no more random people from Bangladesh saying their name is "Peter" asking "how has your day been sir," and selling shite that I don't need.

yeah ive tried this b4 but it never stopped, and when u say ur registered they just hang up and u cant get their number cos it doesnt come up on 1471. thats why i switched me number after complain to telewest about the calls i was getting on me old number but lol im still getting em

Its worth doing cos my father hasn't had any where near as many calls, but they do still come though now and again.

i remember our kid got a sales call on his mobile a few years ago, he basicaly told the yid to foff off and he wasnt interested.................this guy kept his number and kept calling him at daft oclock realy windingour kid up, it was a laugh at first but it carried on for weeks, we all took turns answering the fone and giving him loads of verbal down the fone but this guy still persisted to call him, in the endour kid ended up changing his number coz the sales guy from some random call centre in deli wouldnt stop calling him!!!!

so from that if i get any calls like that i just tell em thanks but nothanks and put the fone down,id love to tellemwhere to get off but remember........they have got your number and could easily proceed to ring you at daft oclock and hassle ya!!!

It's only technically "cold calling" if they have randomly pulled ur number from the phone book or somthing. If they know you have a phone contract, then the infomation has been given to them...surely there should be an option to "not give my details to other companies"???


Think how shit that job would be? I did somthing similar (done a bit of sales etc) I had to sell advertising space in a booklet, that'd go round schools! Crap. It was very draining having people say "is this ur job? Is this what you actually do then?" It was a tough job, a really tough job. The best sales job I had, was working for Holmes place gym...selling memberships. It was top money. But I got a consience about it...people bought somthing, they didn't really want to, I just had persuaded them otherwise...


But yeh, even I find it anoying. There is alot of very very bad sales people out there, who shouldn't be doing it. Somtimes you meet a good one...but I can spot the pitch a mile off...so it doesnt work!

I bought my PC from Dell, and the only reason they ring you (usually at 7.30pm) is to offer extended cover/warranty. As soon as they say it's Dell, I just say I have no money for extended after care, it stumps them. They still sound surprised after about 3 attempts...saves listening to the same spiel though. Ed

Total wankers! Ere's a good 1 4 ya.. next time they phone tell them u are interested but u will phone them at home lata 2 discuss what they are offering.. When they say thats not possible sir, reply Well dont fuc*@n phone me at home, Its a classic and it makes u fell like a bad mofo when u slam the phone down..
