Might as well have a recordable DVD player and a DivX player then, than buying a poor DVD recorder with DivX. Those Philips recordable DVD players are reckoned to be the best buy for under £200 and you can pick them up for about £120, so I reckon it would be better to have one of those for recording needs and a DivX player for stuff off t'internet

if any of yas get one then give me a shout n il talk u thru upgrading the firmware so that its smooth as fuck as the standard firmware gives dicky xvid playback. mines no bother, plays out xvids/divx's/dvd's/copies

Bollox! just missed out on a cheapy recorder http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/phillips-dvd-r...cmd ZViewItem

Me telly & vid are Phillips & i've never had no probs plus i like to keep every thing the same make normally so it looks nice

Just had a thought? Can you plug DVD recorders & videos together to convert 'em from vid to DVD

a chipped xbox is another way to go and they should be coming down in price now as well..

xbox media centre plays owt, I've got about 50 films, just as many c.d's, complete series and loads of games all on the one xbox.

it's like being at blockbuster when deciding what to watch, even gets info from imdb..not much it doesn't do tbh..

Yes, aslong as the Video you are recording isn't Macrovision Protected, or you have a Macrovision Remover, otherwise you'll get an unwatchable picture.
