Soz peeps, but I couldn't even finish the DaVinci code... Truly one of the worst books I've ever read... There's nothing original in it whatsoever... This you can forgive if it's been done well, but this hasn't at all...

It's a badly written re-hash of "Holy Blood, Holy Cross", and other such 20 year old, discredited, tired conspiracy theories.

There are much better "Templar" style mystery books out there...

Books OK, the conspiracy ideas are what keep you hooked. Other than that its pretty shite

I suspect the film will be a let down if you've read the book. Usually the way ain't it

lmao @ that link shooms, especially"You know a movie's a dud when even its self-flagellating albino killer monk isn't any fun."

If you like a good *fnord* conspiracy book then *fnord* you can't beat The Illuminatus! Trilogy

Well, the film was booed in Cannes's festival but that does not mean that it won't be successful not at all...

I'm not sure if I wnat to hear the audiobook or not. it might depend on the reader...
More fundamentally, although I'm not fond of the catholic church and so forth, it's an easy target

My next reading, I think, will be an old book "hitch hiker's guide to the galaxy"... but I have quite a few to read so...

I enjoyed it but i dont think i'll watch the film.

It's read by collin stinton (i think it said stinton anyway ) i think he's ok but it's the 1st time i've listened to an audio book and i've only listened to the first 5 minutes of it. I've started listening to angels and demons but i keep falling asleep might be cos i keep trying to listen to it when i go to bed though

jayne.

Well, the thing with audiobooks is this :
a bad narrator can ruin a good book the way a good narrator might make of a pretty bad booka a work that'll leave you breathless.
Listen to any books read by Scott Brick and you'll know what I mean... this guy is awesome...

Now for the da vinci code, i'll ahve to hear a sample, but basically if you fall asleep, it's because the narrator is bad...

I have a problem when american writers write fictions taking place in Paris, similarly I have a problem with french writers writing fictions taking place abraod (except when they talk out of personnal experience), because it's generally full of chlichés.

It's one of the major elements that has kept me far from the da vinci code.
