maybe, but it's most likely one of the few things that they have engrained into their memory, like don't keep bouncin me beak of the edge of me boundary.

all current creatures have a need to feed, and recognise it, and will recognise food. it's the only way th'yve made it through the evolutionary process over the past many millenia - the brains of all lifeforms devoloped emotional responses as they continually evolved (in this case that of hunger)... the distant past generations of lifeform, with no or less hunger drive, grew weaker and failed to develop through the evolutionary process and gradually died out. while the creatures with greater emotional response, and hunger drive, grew stronger and continued on to become the dominant lifeforms on the planet as the others faded out of existance... *ramble-ramble*

lol, but anyway, your goldfish had the need to feed, knew what to do, and as such would recognise the food coming after only a few feeds... as they would sense and get the urge to suck up plankton and whatnot in the wild

i think the rest of their lives is likely a blur of who am i? what am i? and what am i doing here (in this glass box)?

Hmmn good question, I think they do bash into it occasionally but you'd think they'd do it more often wouldn't you, like when you get a bird repeatedly bashing its head against the patio windows trying to fly through it, or flies on the inside of a bus window trying to fly out, or even people sometimes walking into glass doors or bashing their head on the glass covering the pasties in greggs lol (guilty).

They will probably be able to feel different vibrations in the water as they get closer to the glass or something??

Due to goldfish having very poor vision; As they breath in and out through their gills, high frequency rays, simular to that of a radar on a ship are immited down the lower jaw and out of the mouth ( hence why fish's mouths open and close like they do), these rays are deflected back, giving the fish a radar type perspective of its position in the tank.

Yea Right!!!

If the Queen farts in the presence of distinguished guests, would one of her manservants take the blame?
