What books did you read at school?

I remember reading Super Gran , Stig Of The Dump and The Machine Gunners at primary school and Kes at secondary school, but I can't remember any others at the moment

What about you guys?

Can definitely recall reading Spring and Port Wine, Animal Farm and Various Shakespeare. But the best book in the world was introduced to me at Primary School and I recently found a copy for my Godson! THE HUNGRY CATERPILLAR
Whilst we are on the subject. Anyone dealing with any kind of change; Who Moved my Cheese is a fantastic read. Only take you an hour to get through it, give it a chance.

When I was dead young Roger Red and summat like Billy Blue hat lol, then fast forward a bit, roald dahl books love em, also them mystery ones, 'the case of the face at the window' or something, and it had loads of alternative endings and you turned to page such and such to do this blah blah. Narnia books. There was also this series of books about myth and legends that I used to read kind of fairy tales with ghouls n goblins in it. Err Adrian Mole and of course Men Only when i could get it (for the interesting articles obviously)

The few that stick out are Kes, To kill a Mocking Bird, The Colour Purple and my most fave ever book- Billy Liar. i also used to love Stienbeck's The Pearl, but i just don't get it as much when i tried to read it now.

I am reading a book so crap at the moment that i can't put the bastardo down. Its called Skin Tight lol, and has a pic of a chick on the front all oiled up with teeny tini bikini bottoms on (she's cartoon lol, so she would have a few fans on here). Its set in the late 80's, and the main character Stanahan lol, is good yet tough cop kicked outta force, . Its full of plastic surgery, fast cars and brutal killings. Sorta Nip/tuck meets Miami Vice meets Baywatch meets Goodfellas- with legwarmers and sneakers.

Its got great one liners such as 'Stranahan was going to let the son of a bitch have it, this cuban was going to know what pain was all right, he was going to cut this balls of and serve them him for breakfast', and 'Vick Barletta slid out of her sports car and licked her lips seducivly as she walked into Durkos Springs for her meeting with Dr Graveline, the hottest surgeon in town'.

It mental, i have taking to wearing shitloads of lipgloss and padded sweaters when i read it.

I forgot one, Cider with Rosie- that was nice.

All the examples are the ones that were class related, but if you're talking self chosen ones i remember a Judy Bloome one called Forever that was supposedly ace. I had to wait ages to get it from the local library, all because the main character loses her virgininty in it. It caused a right storm due to it being quite graphic for a kids book, it also made me frigid in the process. I was actually shocked that i didn't heamorrage close to the point of death when my time came, the was Ms Blume went on about it.

To Kill a mocking Bird, Romeo and Juliet, (orwells) Animal Farm and Z for Zacharia from memory, probably others too. My memories getting terrible. I guess "Animal Farm" left its mark lol.

Just reading one of my freinds books at the minute, his first book, which he's asking me (amongst others) to read before he tries for publishing......
