Talking Following on from.........

Well following on from Sonya's thread about when is a good time to quit. I have as of about 11.30 last night (20th Oct), quit smoking.
I have thought about nothing but cigarettes BUT, I have flipped this normally impossible situation on it's head and done things like, looking at cancer wridden lungs, worked out that I spend about £141.80 a month on smoking. And in my smoking career.....I have spent £13,608!!!!!!!!in my life on fags!!!!! WTF!!! I feel different than before. I think about fags all the time. BUT I don't want one!!!!!I feel much more possative than before.
Anyway, wish me luck folks
I can do it, i know I can.

I'VE JUST GIVE UP FOR ABOUT THE 100TH TIME AND HAVE SUSSED IT THIS TIME! WAS SMOKIN' 40 A DAY (20 @ WORK. 20 ON A NIGHT) , AND JUST THOUGHT 'FU@K IT I DON'T LIKE 'EM ANY MORE' (BEEN SMOKIN' 21 YEARS OUT OF 33!!)

WILL BE A MONTH ON MONDAY SINCE I PACKED EM IN, LIKE YOU SAY IT FEELS DIFFERENT THIS TIME, I WANT ONE BUT CAN SAY TO MYSELF 'YEAH I WANT ONE, BUT I'M NOT GONNA'

WAS ON PATCHES FOR 2 WEEKS THEN REALIZED I DID NOT NEED EM (EVEN WENT TO JOY LAST FRIDAY GOT SPANNERED AND DID NOT TOUCH ONE FAG ALL NIGHT OR EVEN THE RECOVERY WEEKEND!!)

LIKE I SAY TAKE ONE DAY AT A TIME....SAY TO YOURSELF 'RIGHT, I'M NOT GONNA HAVE A FAG TODAY'........THEN THE NEXT DAY......THEN THE NEXT. IT THEN SEEMS LIKE YOUR ONLY GIVIN UP FOR ONE DAY, NOT THE REST OF YOUR LIFE WHICH IS A BIT DAWNTING

Good luck Loz

I've never been a smoker myself (being a passive smoker makes me wanna ) so I don't really know or understand how hard giving up actually is. My parents are smokers and have tried every Christmas, birthday, New Year etc giving up but have never fully succeeded. They quit for a month or so then just give in

Anyway, you seem very determined and come across as very strong minded so I have every bit of faith in you (unlike Superdan)

Good luck chick, you can do it

Edit : You too Sonz

ya have to be ready

I was smoking 20+ superkings a day up untill just over 3 months ago. it's not easy, I'd been wantin to give up for a while and one day i just decided not to buy any and see how long i could go without. 3 months later I'm still not smoking. was a combination of willpower, lots of blue extra chewies and i haven't had a bevy (or anythin else) in 3 months either which makes it so much easier to do. once you have a drink thats when the real test begins. if u survive a night out you've done well.

they say if you mange a full week without you've cracked it and also each craving only last for about 5 seconds. at first you will get loads but as time goes on you get less and less of them.

good luck, hope ya manage it

I went out last night, and didn't even want a cig. I was also very very drunk. People were smoking round me. But like you say Col, my cravings only lasted a matter of seconds then I forgot about it. I actually think I might do it this time xxxx Im fucking buzzin!!!!!!
