Have drawn it now and come up with this. Is a half decent representation of what i am trying to explain. I've added various tennis features for your viewing pleasure cause i'm jus that kinda guy.

Workied it out in my head, lol. I just pictured three balls in a tube, and figured that allowing for the spaces between them would mean that the tube was half full of tennis balls. Good puzzle.
