The strangest way to discover a DJing legend

I confess to being a bit Clueless when it comes to music, I know a bit but i never really started to bother with who made what, n who's who of the dance music scene and what have you. i knew the tunes when i heard them but never knew who it was by or what it was called. I'm still very much learning ropes.

Anyway, I've just come accross this dude called 'Larry Levan' who I'm sure most of you know is one of the legends of NY House music and was friends in his youth with frankie knuckles before they where famous.

Larry Levan's legendary club in NY called 'The Paradise Garage' was that well respected it is resposible for the name of the house music genre 'Garage'. now this is some claim to fame and obviously this guy was something else. unfortunetly this genuis passed away and is no longer with us

So.... how did i discover him. I'll tell ya how, from downloading a mix of a song from that wonderful american childrens TV show seseame street. called.....

I mean ffs, I'm really not doin my street cred any good ere ya know !!

does anyone else have any stories about stumbling accross a great by chance or in a equally as sad fashion as this one. pls let me know

Ermmm dont think i have but Larry Levan is quality....he was one of the pioneers of mixing i understand!!! i got a nice funky mix by him live at the playboy mansion OOO errrr mrs!!!!! lol!!!
