The Hacienda - what exactly happened

This is a conversation I had at work this week. (It's how it happened - she does speak like that)

We've got a Spanish girl working at our place.
On Wednesday she asked me "did you go to nightclub called the 'Acenda?"

"The Hacienda"

"Yeah, the 'Acienda"

"A few times, why"

"We walk down the canal, and we see plaque, all famous people that play there. It good club, no?"

"It was a brilliant club, yeah"

"How you describe it, what was it like"

"Well, it started off as a venue bands would play, and for Indie music, then, in 1988 ,it became a place where people would dance to House music"

"What do you mean, describe it. What exactly happen there"

"Well, there would be a DJ, playing records, and people would just dance, loving the music"

"It seems a very important place in Manchester, you part of History, no?"

"I suppose so, though I only went a few times, but there were loads of other places"

"Joanne, did you go to 'Acienda?"
Conversation moves on to next part of office.

So, Hacienda heads... "describe it. What exactly happen there"???

hahahahahah lots of things.............i would say......we all got loved up, drugged up, tuned up to the max, sweaty, and became part of an istitution.......... danced like mo fo's and the rest as they is history......what exactly does she want to know hahahah!!!!!!

discovery happened there... .and im gonna go relive the dream on new yrs day!!!

then it all went pear shaped

I couldn't go into too much detail, as my supervisor was sat there!

"Well..the discovery of a new music, coincided with the discovery of a new drug, MDMA... it all started from there really...amazing nights..atmosphere...friends for life...come downs, though...gangsters...bad atmosphere...not like it was...great memories...still lovin' it...can you file these for me! The Hacienda, it was a club in Manchester I think, I hear all the wops that are into that old school music from back in 1989 - 1993ish, they used to go there.

Not my kind of thing, I liked singing with Cliff Richard at Wimbeldon, that was my fondest memory,
