laws on employement changed a while ago and im not sure what too cause ive not been in recruitment now for 3 years.

However, you say you havent signed a contract and thats very dodgey mate even at the best of times, without a contract they can fire you off right there and then without a reason.

Because they havent agreed to any terms of your employment and you havent agreed to there terms of employment.

Mel....when they hired you...did you have a temporary contract or anything.....cus u should have.....! they can be dun for this! and like all employers...after a 12month period any temporary staff member has the rights of a permanent employee!!!

i would contact the union...NOW.......u dont have to be a member to seek their advice.......they will only represent you if you are a member! i would ask them regarding the contract business...and also contact your personnel department and under the freedom of information act you can request in hard copy any legislation and policies with regard to employees rights! and i would also ask them for a copy of your terms and conditions........ie a contract of employment! its possible that one was drawn up but never passed to you to sign.....i thought it was illegal to employ sumone with out having a contract.......just a thought........

i used to work at the same place as my brother mel, but on opposite shifts, and let me tell ya all..........ITS SHITE!!!

I was there 7 years but its easy money and all the jobs are a piece of piss!!

its full ov old skool dolly birds that mother anything below the age of 40, and if yer one of the few men on days working there they do nowt but brew up and do ur work for ya.

when i started there i had to wait 2 years to find out wether i was being made permanant but we had to go for a review every 3 months.........the atmosphere was realy crap..........and if you get summoned up to the office the whole factory goes quiet and its like doing the walk of death!!!!

so i know from my own experiance there exactly wot our kid is going through.

the only good thing about that place is all the knocked off gear that comes in and out of those doors on a monday morning!!!

I used to work with a bloke that once a bad decision didnt go his way he would throw 1000's of pounds worth of spares in the junk metal skip......dont think the situation was as bad as yours tho m8

However, when I left a job under a cloud about 6 years ago, i lifted out one of the polystyrene tiles in the roof and throw old fish pieces up there at random places.......according to several friends who still work there, 3 years later the place still fekkin stank

I also superglued doors closed and threw sand in the extruder gearbox assembly

Oh, and one final thing....I posted an advert in the loot for 50 free flag stones, buyer collects under my bosses name and telephone number.....he was inundated with calls for 8 weeks, morning noon and night.. he had to change his number in the end..
