Keeping Busy in Hospital

As alot of you no I will be going into hospital soon 8 weeks away, I no it seems along time, but I will be in for 5 - 7 days if all goes well . Dont like hospital at the best of times although I love the reason why I have to go in this time, and will have my hands busy so to speak. But what I am asking you for is ideas about what I can take in with me to keep me busy . I am asking this now as I am getting things ready. Nowt like been prepared (first time for everything).
I was wondering if i was allowed to take the laptop in , but then could i get a connection to the outside world lol!!!! or would it be like mobiles and interfer with machines .

Any ideas guys please.

The worst of it is all these bugs that are going about cause hospitals are not clean enough I am only going in to the countrys second worst one .

Thanks peeps, likw i said i no it is 8 weeks tomz so a while but need to be ready. Have lots more stuff to take aswell, why they just wont let me move the house in is beyond me lol!!!

yeah they have internet connection but i doubt they will in the ward, if your in a private room they might be able to set it up for you if you ask nicely lol

get loads of girly mags and stuff, crossword books and all that, they will keep you going for a bit, a game boy advance wouldnt go a miss either.

Its defo worth looking into huns...lol....... they will defo have have sum kinda connection there...

Aww i'm getting so excited for you!!!!

I can't wait to go baby clothes shopping, i get to coo over iccle things!!!

I'm gonna send you some remedies to take with you which should help you hopefully.

As for things to keep you busy...........like the others have said, books and magazines are good!!!!

Most hospitals have got the new fandangly tv's/phone now with the internet (you buy a card from a vending machine in the hospital its about £3.50 a day) but failing that we took our laptop in when i was in but we didnt have it connected to the internet. Good luck hope you have a safe delivery!

Those tv things are great!! My mum was in hospital earlier this year when i first saw them. I think there an excellent idea. Last time i was in hospital i was bored out of my head for 2 days reading the same bloody womens own over n over again! Although eating choccys was fun!

Awwww Im soooo excited for you to babe!! Will deffo have to plan an excursion across the country to come and see you if you will have us!!

When our kid went in Hozzie he took his lap top in with him!! But I suppose it depends from hospital to hospital!!

Tell you what babe, if all else fails.... we could revert back to the old fashioned methods of pen & paper and I will write you every single day if needs to be! to try and keep you entertained!!!

if u get them "PATIENT LINE" things in ur hospital..u will be sorted! my dads just bin in hossy (eye or summat, he bettererer now)
u buy credit in certain amounts and stick it in the monitor type thing!!
you get : -

personal phone
tv.. bbc 1, 2, itv, ch4...uk gold CARTOON NETWORK and sum more
internet!!! (OSA Possibly???)
radio!!
fun eh!!

thems the thingmebobs...they are quite funky, but my internet wasnt online when i was in which was a bit of a bummer. nice to be able to make phone calls and stuff from your bed though........good luck PW

Thanks Everyone for your replys . I love reading but havent read a full book in ages the last book I read was Silvia Plath the Bell Jar and that was a brilliant book.

Them telephone things have come along since I was last in, christ we had to fight the phone cause there was only one on the ward.
