erm well, apart from being the england captain and regularly been the only player to grab the game by the scruff of the neck and power on to help us win it.
not to mention the countless times he's scored free kicks / penalties (argentina springs to mind..)
on a professional level, you dont get more dedicated than beckham. f*ck what goes on in his private life.. i mean if u were married to that stick insect you'd probably look elsewhere at somepoint anyway

people like you just do not appreciate what it takes to be that good a player.

start with your average sunday league team. they might have a few decent players, yeah..

then u have your saturday teams all amatuer, sure, they have some good players too

then you have semi pro teams with thousands of players in every single country accross the world, all of whom are a dam sight better than me!! and i think i'm ded good lol

then u have all the lower conference and "non league teams" plus all the 3 divisions and the premier league.

to be as good as beckham, you have to be better than all these millions of players, stay better than them and perform consistantly for 10+ years.

I just don't think we have enough quality players. We did do Pretty well for most of the game but heskey still in an england shirt. Is there really no one else? I'd prefer shearer than him

All the media reports I read this morning about England being totally robbed are somewhat misguided. Scoring 2 goals in the last two minutes is very very unusual, but France were the better footballing side, had far more territory, possession, creativity and shots at goal - it would have been a travesty if they hadn't taken something from that game.

OK - England played hard, defended really well and got blocks and tackles in when required, but for most of the second half they were seriously under the cosh. You can't expect to beat a team like France when camped in your own 18 yard box.

Sven's the man you've got to blame - his teams are hard working but incredibly dour and defensive - he encourages them to sit back on 1-0 leads which is asking for trouble. English/British teams have never had that Italian type of mentality.

As for Beckham, he's the most overrated player I've ever seen. He's totally anonymous in open play.

However having watched the drivel of Croatia v Switzerland earlier on, England will have to be extremely poor not to qualify.
