No Need!!!!

Because I'm old and lazy (can't be arsed searching the forums for the 'things that piss me off' thread or whatever it was called)

So here's a new one,

No neeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed;

Cars passing by the house every 10 minutes blasting out shite R'n'B (the rubbish stuff, not the 50's decent Rhythm and Blues as it was once known)

As all you can hear is the bass, now I know I shouldn't be one to give a fuck about loud bass, but when you're trying to watch a bit of telly (Simpsons, earlier) it reet fucks you off I tell thee...

Motorbikes, those Japanese power machines that love to scare you shitless blasting past you 15" away whilst at 95mph (and 450 decibels) when you walk down the road.

Neighbours who take and deal excessive drugs and enjoy playing punk rock until three in the morning for the sole enjoyment of pissing thier neighbours off, then confronting the neighbours and saying theyre gonna steal your car and sell it for drug money as a threat - theres no need!. Not me fortunately.

Theres no need for half the dross thats on TV, watered down mind numbing shite thats like 'celebrity big brother changing rooms wieght loss docusoap special' and theres no need to put film premiers on at after 11.30 on a working week night. Theres no need to move the News from 9 to 10'o'Clock so that they can put films on un interupted at 8.00 - only to start putting films at 9.00 and therefore fucking the film up AND making you stay up so youre absolutely dead in the morning.

Theres no need for clamshell packaging that you need to hack at to get into it, theres also no need for believing the spoonfed drivel that is todays media and being led to believe its what we wanted when its blatently obvious we didnt. Theres no need to vote Tories in again, co they are proper slimey bastards who trashed this country forever - theres no need for the lack of memory some people seem to have on this too! lol.

Theres no need for me to be such a bloody whinger, but I cant help myself!

Sirius.

Sorry Jammer, but someone's got to defend this "shite R n B" music.

Every day, RnB gets slated on this site, and sometimes with good cause. I mean you've got to slate mindless gangsta shite like Ja Rule or the pathetically constructed lyrical contents of J-Lo.

But what about the good soulful RnB that's out there, like Amy Winehouse, Angie Stone, India Irie, Macy Gray, and the older stuff like Groove Theory, Sade, Debohra Cox, the list is endless.........

I know I'm gonna get some conflicting views on this one, but I've gotta state that not all RnB/soul is shite!!! Sorry

Still ain't real R&B though, it's still POP.

And Macy Gray just needs shooting. She's just a big messed up spastic with a ridiculously retarded 'I've smoked to many Marlboro's today' voice. I really can't stand her.

All music that's popular is POP , alot of good music gets charted!!! Doesn't make it cheesey pop though

Yeah a lot of it doesn't have a classic rythm n blues sound, but it's still soulful stuff.
I do agree thou that MacyGray needs to chill out on the fags though!!! At least it gives her a unique sound though x x x

Yeah, I suppose you could say that anything that, but I think the peoples definition of what "pop music" is, isn't always going to be the same.

For me, pop music is manufactured music aimed at people who don't yet have pubes, and is simply a way of making record company executives extremely rich, while shafting the clueless, talentless morons that are so dumb they even mime at their own live concerts.

"Rhythm and Blues, or R&B, is a musical marketing term introduced in the United States in the late 1940s by Billboard magazine. It replaced the term race music, which was deemed offensive. To some extent, the kind of music it is attached to has changed to whatever form of contemporary music is popular with African-American pop musicians and audiences.

In its first manifestation, rhythm and blues was a black version of a predecessor to rock and roll. It was strongly influenced by jazz and jump music as well as black gospel music, and influenced jazz in return (hard bop was the product of the influence of rhythm and blues, blues, and gospel music on bebop). Musicians paid little attention to the distinction between jazz and rhythm and blues, and frequently recorded in both genres. Numerous swing bands (for example, Jay McShann's, Tiny Bradshaw's, and Johnny Otis's) also recorded rhythm and blues. Even a bebop icon like arranger Tadd Dameron also arranged for Bull Moose Jackson and spent two years as Jackson's pianist after establishing himself in bebop.

It was not in the US but through the thriving UK pop scene of the early 1960s that R&B reached the height of its popularity. Without the same kind of racial distinctions that refused it acceptance in the USA, white British performers and listeners adopted this novel style of music without question, and groups such as The Rolling Stones and Manfred Mann brought it to a wider audience.

The term fell into disfavor in the 1960s being replaced by soul music and Motown, but has re-emerged in recent years indicating black popular music encompassing pop heavily influenced by hip-hop, funk, and soul music. In this context only the abbreviation R&B is used, not the full expression. It is gaining popularity nowadays"

Now show me a piece of modern "Rhythm & Blues" that contains any element of jazz.

The only thing that remains the same in old and new is the colour of the artist's skin. And I ain't being racist before anyone jumps down my throat, it's just a fact!

misstickle, Tim has already done an excellent job and has said pretty much what I would have said.

Go digging back in the day and listen to Jazz, the real classics, the stuff that hip hop is inspired by, the crate diggers of today who recycle Jazz and true Rhythm & Blues get all my respect, not the jumped up spaccas who shout "reeeeeespec"

Macy Gray is just wrong, the big lipped bint.
