Suicidal Tigger

Hmm....
Tigger is being a Superstar!!! and teaching me how to drive

I haven't a clue how much tax I will have to pay when(in the distant future) I get a car.
Can someone give me an idea of what it will cost me.
I bet its shocking!

ur tax is bout £100
ur insurance will depend on how old you are, gender, and how new your car is and what type of car. ive got a yellow sports punto. im 18 and its £2000 and thats with a 1 yr no claims bonus. so it is quite expensive.

You pay 2 grand for your car insurance? Without meaning to sound rude, are you insane? When I was 20 I was only paying 550 (can't belive I was even that foolish) for my 205GTI. Then I realized I was being a prick, so I bought a 1.1 Fiesta and paid 230 instead...

yeah you pay your tax yearly, that never changes, it possibly goes up if anything
and then your insurance varies. ie my insurance used to be £2800, then i did my pass plus which cost £100 but it saved me £600 on my insurance, reducing it to £2200, then i got my new car after a year. initially my insurance should of gone down a lot, but because i had a 1 yr no claims, but because i got a new sports model it didnt go down very much.
plus if you have an accident and claim off your insurance then the rate goes sky high.
insurance quotes vary on the situation.

Maybe that's where you're going wrong... 3rd party fire and theft is the way forward if you're young, coz it works out to be a nice cheap way of building up your no claims. Just don't drive like a nutter, coz if you smash into a wall, your repairs are coming out of your own pocket.

And shop around for best quotes. I can't believe you were once paying 2800 quid. I wouldn't pay that even if I'd won the jackpot on the lottery, you're just throwing money away for no good reason.

Just don't get anything brand new, and get something with a small engine. Not only will you save money on insurance, but you'll also save on fuel and car tax.

The faster the car, the more damage you can cause. That's why they're expensive to insure, especially for youngsters because they're more likely to have accidents due to inexperience.

Have a think about what kind of car you want, you don't need a Ferrari for your first car, but at the same time you probably don't want a 20 year old rusting tub of shit either! See what you can afford, and take the time to shop about for quotes before you buy the car. Get the yellow pages and ring all the freephone numbers and check online too, coz some companies will give you discounts if you get it online.

I've been with Churchill since I passed my test (apart from when I had he GTI) and no one has ever been able to beat their prices.

Youll be lucky to get insurance for under £1000 if your a new driver thats third party no matter what the car is and tax is £115 for under 1.4cc and £165 for over you can do 6 monthly but its £65 and £90.75

Its not cheap
