I understand what ya sayin! He could have just made the whole lot up!! But theres just too many coincidences! Its all abit strange really!! I suppose people of today (and that includes myself) will interpertate anything into anything else!

For example:-

He supposedly saw the 9/11 disaster.......

"In the City of God there will be a great thunder,
Two brothers torn apart by Chaos, while the fortress endures, the great leader will succumb",
The third big war will begin when the big city is burning"

Assuming "the City of God" is New York City, then the "two brothers torn apart by Chaos" must be the fallen towers of the Word Trade Center. The "fortress" is obviously the Pentagon, the "great leader" is the United States of America and "the third big war" can only mean World War III.

I suppose it is easy to put the two together and say he did see it!
But as easy as it is to say its bollox its easy to say its not!!

how we got here...dunno
why we r here...i rekkon we r an experiment...
the world has been round for ages, survived extreme cold, heat and all that!!!, storms tornados, freezin, fires...all natural stuff, bit of damage and it can fix itself, animals return and the grass grows again,
animals and the food chain and all that...they need eachother to survive thats how they carry on goin...they kinda balance themselves and their numbers out.
then for some reason we r put here by some nutters as an experiment to see wot damage we can do cos the planet can survive nearly everything else.
WAHEY good job...we've nearly knackered it already, poisoned stuff extincted stuff!!!
the nutters made different religions and races so we then could kill each other

y the hell else would we be put here?????

Believe it or not all humans are all desended from one single human female almost certianly from Africa. You can tell this by genetic diversity - the diversity being greatest in Africa.
This is wrong if iv read it properly! were not decended from 1 woman, thats crazy she would have to bread with her offspring! but we all did come from africa prob because thats where the best conditions for early life to expand were.......?

The one that does my head in is: what was before the big bang? i know they say nothing, a void but if this is true how was there an explosion from nothing? what is the real begining! you cant get something from nothing! what was there??????????????????

its doin me ed in!

We are "Here" coz I parents slept together!

some are planned.......... others aint

Sum of us just wish thier mothers had swallowed that night others dont.

Some of us were planned, IE a wanted child ect.........

A lot of us are about the planet coz of the actions of two selfish people who didnt think about the result after.

some good points in this thread..something else to think about -

the question some of you are answering is why are we here? as if everything around you was put in place just for the human race to exist.

the earth has been around for ages, no one knows how long but lets say a few billion years, the human race on the other hand, again no one knows, could be anywhere from about 10,000 to a million, but it's a tiny percentage, lets say about 1%.

now there's 2 main theories of how we got here, the first being that we were created by a god or higher being. If you believe that the world was made in seven days then there was on hell of a gap between finishing the earth off and planting humans on it, why the wait? well maybe this planet and universe is not all about us, in the big picture we're nothing..if there is someone watching over, then the tiny percentage of time we're taking up is insignificant..the blink of an eye.

a more likely theory is the big bang, a freak explosion or chemical reaction created the earth billions of years ago. if so it's also likely that life & animals may have been formed the same way, freak reactions and mutations, if that is the case then there is no other reason for us being here than we simply 'are'.

humans as it's been said are just at one end of an evolutionary branch, the trouble is we've developed powerful brains and the ability to think. It's the ability to think like we do that makes some of us believe that we must be here for a reason, that we are the centre of everything, all that matters.

yet we are just a tiny fraction of the big picture, we followed the dinosaurs, maybe the reason the earth or the universe is here will follow us. The buck doesn't stop with humans and it certainly didn't start with them..so why do we see ourselves as the reason for the existence of the planet, universe & everything.

What i'm trying to say is that maybe there is no reason why we're here, no masterplan, we're just part of something that 'is' that will continue to evolve and mutate until the sun explodes or the planet's wiped out by a meteorite or another species evolves and becomes dominant..but time will still go on whether humans are here or not.

it's the ability to think that makes us wonder these things, the ability to think that creates god's and the bible and probably the ability to think that will destroy the human race, but then we're just a speck on the timeline and time will go on with or without us.

instead of why are we here maybe the question should be why is everything here?

yikes, all that spieled out before 9am...just a few thoughts for the day.

ive read quite a bit on evolution and stuff like that
and it seems we are jus damn lucky to be here
and its a pity we(the human race) seems hellbent on destroying the world we live in

maybe we should all stop worrying about why we are here and start thinking about where we and our future generations are goin coz we raping this fine planet of ours at an astonishing rate

anyway anyone whowants to read up on evolution id heartily recomend reading the blind watchmaker by richard dawkins

Big fan of Dawkins - "The Selfish Gene" is possibly his best (my little expl of how we got here in that earlier post is basically just a synopsis of that book).

On the other side of the coin "Darwin's Black Box" by Michael Behe is an excellent counter argument from the creatationists point of view, which raises loads of questions which are still unanswered by evolutionists.
