I'm gonna have to go '89
Was living in the states in 88 & having a shit time of it over there by the end so came back. I'd liked a few of the early house tracks before moving over there, but it hadn't really registered as 'a scene' (least not with me anyway). Just new fresh music. I liked it but couldn't really stick a label on it... Early house kinda merged into a big electronicey eclectic with some of the hiphop & electro doing the rounds...

Anyroad... back to these shores in Feb '89. Just turned 17. Been away over a year and had been missing the music, the footy, the drinking, the laydees, and just the general crack you get in this country and nowhere else on earth. Having been starved of all the good stuff it was back with a bang, in with both feet, whatever was going on. That whole year was one big mashup. Signing on, shoplifting (and other assorted naughtiness), going footy, and out every night on the lash. Great crowd of lads them days from school/footy/friends of friends etc. Nobody gave a shit, always summat going on and somebody up for a party. Didn't take long to make the acquaintance of the little fellas... Tended to be mainly smaller nights back then up our way. One-offs in rented rooms and such. Not the big massive events.

First "big" party for me was the Rezerection in 90 and never looked back.
Off to Uni the following year in Notts (Rave FM The Garvey ) and that's when the travelling around various places at weekends started. Bunch of uni mates from all over the country with stories & clubs & mates from back home... we pretty much did the rounds... plenty different towns, plenty different clubs, plenty different vibes, and plenty good times (apart from me & my mate driving to Edinburgh one night in a Fiat 126 absolutely fucked).

A time & a scene I feel proud to have been around for. The world really changed. It was a privilege to be there to see it. So much love. I get fuckin misty-eyed thinking back.

I just voted 91 as it was a mad time for me and i fucking loved it, was mental and very hasy. I dont remember much about the tunes and the music in all honesty cuz i was so fucking cunted!
I remember more about the tunes from 92-94, but the best times were the first raving times from 91
