Right then,
For me its gotta be 1989 to 1997
Sorry i cant choose just 1 year although the early ones (89-91)
were absolutely mental!
My life solely consisted of going out,getting mashed,going to sleep,getting up,buying choons,going out,getting mashed,going to sleep etc
Went to untold wicked parties/clubs/gatherings n met untold wicked people of every possible creed & colour from all over the place.
I truly beleived we were all part of a revolution that would change the world!!
Maybe it was the little white mdma caps-who knows.
Difficult to beleive looking around now.
But it was definately the best few years of my life without a doubt.
As long as i live i will hold those memories close to my heart,
I just wish i could go back n do it again & again & again................
Kris M.

Im 33 now-i dont look or feel that old-honest!

Without doubt 1992 did all the big ones then - Book Of love, One Step Beyond, 3rd Dimension, eeeerh Fantazia NYE and of cause thats when the almighty Club Kinetic was on form.
The little uns werent to bad either.

Was to young beetween 89-93, so it has to be 1995. There were some good partys this year especially the Century Rave 1 in the Jahrhunderthalle in Bochum with DJs like Steve Mason & Westbam (before he went shit!!!). Remember much phat tunes from that party where I cant sit down a while because I felt always the sound in my blood. Rving 12 hours without drugs, that was a top party

January 1996. The Bowlers re-opening night. My introduction to the best fun a boy could possibley have.

Although if HazyDayz continues to be so wonderful I might need to rethink.

i just noticed this resurected thread

Ok for me i was torn between '91 - was 17 and discovered the small underground club scene in Aberdeen ( yeah way up north), and took my first pill and '92 when things erupted and I was travelling down to the Eclipse and other clubs, and outdoor raves in England.

I went for '91 - just for the shivers up the spine rush and the whole change from the beer guzzlers and dodgy mainstream crap clubs, to the open, friendly fantastic clubs and making like a million new friends !!!!!!

started getting into chicago house in 88, went to me first under 18's rave (wigan pier)in 89 but the glory days had to be between 90-92, the pinacle was like most of you lot in 91. Although i did stay within the same few clubs, wish id have been more adventurous, but when you loved somethin so much why change?

I feel rather old these days, often tellin youngsters that it aint like the good old days, and tellin them the origins of the tunes that their speeded up covers on monroes tapes. Especially when asked have i heard this new tune, new tune its just a cover version, this aint nowwhere as good as the original lol .

Wow i thought i had already contributed tot his thread but doh!!! i dont seem to have lol

My best yr has gotta be 1989.............

was getting familiar with the tunes from 1886 onwards cus its what my dad was listening to, then he took me to my first party at the Sett End in nov (i think) of 1988!!! i loved it that much that i made every effort to bug my dad to take me every wk end!!!! And then came 1989.....i made my own way!!! More Sett End, more warehouses and LIVE THE DREAM!!!! Its certainly life changing stuff....and has been soley responsible the kind of person i am today imo which aint a bad one lol

1990 was great too......with the loss of the sett end....welcome shelleys , hacienda and the eclipse etc and 1991 was the introduction of ledgends, hacketts, the orbit and the bigger raves!! super yrs.......all of them!!!!

i wuld have to say 90 to 91! oh the joy of it all! sqwali and wafc were only young pups then, when we used to arrive home a bit out of it, the music would continue with sqwali and wafc getting the tracks on. they would of olny been 14 at the time.

Would have to be 1995 for me. Would ave loved to been out between 88-92 but bit to young - When I 1st went to the Hacienda in 1994 it was dying and its glory days were long gone

In 1995 I know for a fact that I went to a rave every single Satday that year and quite often 2 or 3 more in the same week. (Most often went to Retro @ Angels on a Friday, then Life @ Bowlers Satday)

Was also my 1st Holiday to Ibiza... 2 Weeks on nothin but H20 and Discobiskits

this is tough.. but I would say for Raving ,as in every week and during that would be 91 , I remember doing quite a few shelleys friday nights , then workin Saturday , then heading out to Legends (couldnt keep this up for to long) Does anyone remember legends doing mid-week bashes ? think it was thurdays , went a few of them. So i'll go for 91 for the fact of hours on dance floor , mileage in cars and the obvious other usage ...but my fav all time year for music would be 89 and this was my first time at the Hac.

I was too young for the first wave of music... anyone under 30 these days would have had to have looked a lot older than me back in the day to get into any licensed gigs in Essex. I looked fresh faced (no joked about how fresh-faced I may or may not look these days you b'stards) Never got to any of the original raves - I am somewhat displeased about that

All I could do was rely on the pirates and the local record shops (which, thank the lord, were run by true underground bods)... 1990 I was working the shelves at the local store - the older lads would come straight from the raves on a Saturday morning for the paperboy stock-up shift - totally out of their skulls lol, asking me if I had my personal stereo and speakers so we could have some music on the shop floor. Haha, how jealous was I... grrrrr.

1991-94 for me... I caught the tail end of the decent early techno/breaks n bleeps when out bopping away, got a grounding in the pre90 classics from the pirates - the Essex and London clubs from 92 onwards (Oscars Clacton, Monroes Southend, Elevation, AWOL, UK, Lazerdrome, Labyrinth, Tyssen St, Telepathy, Desire, too many to mention - 94 holds a special place in my heart as that's the cream of the proper 'club' scene, before it went all pear shaped in London and promoters forgot the old school vibe - which was what it was - sorry, IS all about...

No wonder there's a strong undercurrent of old school revival in club land at the moment - and long may it continue.

...Onward Old School Soldiers. Your Country Needs YOU.

(flipping ell, that bottle of wine got to me didn't it)
