well maybe i am a bit biased coz you are my mate, but i dont understand your promoter politics comment, if you are good enough then thats what should count.i mean i've seen you get 900+ people rockin in maximes, which is no mean feat & i'm sure Alec, Dee, Dannster, Scaz etc will vouch for you there.

I mean if rick wormald can do it @ GT, Unsy and Coyle b2b might as well give it a shot lol

Totally agree, Recca's shit hot and on NYE was unbelievably good
an we all know how good Ste can play, that witney mix near the end of yor first GT set made my legs turn to jelly and my head go putty

Oh yeah, and although I cant comment on boxing days set, Welly brings a hard yet not dark edge to the oldskool tuneage at GT which is IMO whats been missing a bit.

There has been the odd occasion where 97ish tunes have been played which aint really oldskool.

Iim not into me dark breakbeat put Ooldskool hardcore and breakbeat are surely a necessity of any oldskool event and something whioch I thought was an advantage of the illusion events (in terms of what Ive seen on the flyers).
However, now that theres an element of that at GT, plus the amtos and peeps then its gradually getting more perfect by the month.

Ive never been a big Vertigo fan, and I wa not at the last GTs so I can not coment on his set. But... I do remember him playing back in Feb 2002, and the thing I like about his set was the fact that he did not play full on Piano after Piano tracks. You can have far to much of the same thing these days, and it gets boaring, I love my piano tunes, but listening to the same ones over and over again tend to get a bit manoganos after a few months.

The last 2 GTs have been fantastic due to what Grad says, its had a nice selection of old skool, and not just the obvious played every month.

Getting back to the point, it's Djs like Vertigo and Welly that bring this freshness to GT nights, and this has been proven on reflection to the rise in crowd numbers of late.

I also like the idea made by Joker on making the OSA room, in the second room ( Not every month ) but like I said in my last statment, this room is still new, and should be experimented with. On the other hand, if the OSA dj's do play in this room, it should not be a piano based style of old skool, as it would sound the same as what is happening in the main room. AND WHAT IS THE POINT IN THAT !!!!!

£2 pound extra........come on for feck sake !!!!!. Its only the price of 10 Mayfair fags....and after all witch one is better for ya lolol

Well feckin said m8..... I could never play a 2 hour set of just 92 tunes ( even though it's my favorite music of all time ) I would get board, Old skool is more than just piano tunes & 92, and the educated fan of old skool knows this. To be a DJ is to play music the crowd wants, not the individual. Old skool IMO runs from 88 - 92,......for someone 2 years older than me its 86 - 90, 2 years yonger than me its 90 - 94, There for I always read old skool as 86 - 94, and try to play a blend of all these tunes, if you see the crowd is of this age group mix. This is why there are so many people on hear praising the likes of Vertigo & Welly.

There is no wrong and right in what is old skool, it's just up to the profesional eye of a Promoter & Dj to spot what the majority of the crowd ( The right crowd ) are coming back month after month for !!

Rant over

Woody n Alex

The comment on cheesy house brigade was aimed at a percentage of people who goto GT and for that matter who are into 'dance music' wherever they go

Like in the case of Old Skool peeps who only like Jinny keep warm etc etc

It just annoys me that you have to play 'somebody real' to get a crowd going sometimes. Theres so much more out there and I think Vertigo can show this, shame its not your cup o tea tho

No offence intended boys

PS I think you should admit that you like a bit of cheesey tunes, come on I have !!
:p
