Heres my two pee

I dont mind paying the extra for a quality night of DJ's, as for opening earlier if you can fill it earlier then great, but it is rather frustrating playing to an empty room, if you can get a steady stream of peeps in, in that 1st hour then great, it makes doing the warm up worthwhile

I dont mind the bar prices me, but at GT I dont tend to drink as much as I would in a bar

As RJ 1st mentioned sound and light is paramount, I did notice the sound system as GT is a bit up and down... Why is that?

Yeah I'd love to play there more regular, playing whatever style, Italian House, Old Hardcore, Pumpin house, piano tunes whatever I got it all lol

I really enjoyed myself on BD, it was like the feb 2002 I think atmos wise, the other one Vertigo played at.. RJ and others played brilliant sets also, proper good mix of DJs that night

As for Vertigo, you gotta understand that this guy has a huge record collection, has excellent taste in music and is a legend locally imo

He plays more on a progressive and underground tip throwing in anthems everyso often. He may not suit the cheesy house brigade (dont get me wrong I love that as well lol) but believe there was a lot of vertigo fans at GT that night

As for Welly, again hes a great DJ and has a good rec collection, I just hope he exploits it (as did RJ with his collection when he was a res), and does summat different each time

I think the hardcore room is a good idea also, as long as there is different types of hardcore being played, old skool/happy/bouncy techno etc and if you can get the peeps in there from a promoors view its all good. I just hope it doesnt turn into a happy hardcore/really hard hardcore focused night... I think the Old Skool hardcore is key, but I would say that wouldnt I lol

I think the important thing is youve got to try and keep as many peeps happy as you can but at the same time retain an originality factor, and keep up the quality DJ's!!

Gotta say I agree with peeps thoughts bout the dancers, PWEASE PWEASE Ben give us back the balcony I missed being up there on BD. I didn't hear the MC so can't comment on him! I don't mind paying the extra £2 if the standards gonna be as gud as it has been.

Ben have u thought of doing an OSA DJ (4 those that want 2 of course) nite in the 2nd room 1 month, like u did at the cornmill????

P.S. I promise 2 stay off the speakers if we can have the balcony back!!

I thought Vertigo was fine as well!! Why do some peeps think he was shite? Coz you didnt like every tune he played?? Vertigo's a brilliant DJ, his mixes are very tight and flawless (Well, Ive never heard him feck up eva) all his tunes are well positioned and blended together brilliantly! Ive never known him to play hands in the air lovin' it piano anthemz one after the other, he teases ya for a few then drops a blinder in perfect position, hence, the drop with 'Technoage', that some peeps have mentioned! But saying that every tune was a 'Tune', If you've got varied dance music tastes! He doesnt just play certain years of dance music i.e '90/'91, he plays old skool, which generally means, tunes from yesteryear, so he'll mix a tune from say '96 into a tune from '89, he's good like that, he's got to play to the crowd!! We're gettin old now, alot of the peeps in the club, could be 16 or 17, and havent heard some of the very early tunes we know, but with a DJ like Vertigo, he can keep the youngsters entertained!!

Well bloody said mate

Was just gonna quote ste meself and big mr vertigo up, but youve done it for me

I have a lot of vertigo tapes and love every single one of them...he takes you on a journey on every one of his tapes..and his set at GT did just that too...at the start of his set I was swaying around anticipating what he was gonna play next, then he got my arms in the air screaming for more..and by the end of the set I was having to hang on to the walls !!! :p Couldnt ask for more if you ask me....and then when Ben came on and played Area 51, I was almost in tears Top Top Top !!!

vertigo......a class act

IMO vertigo was excellent.

unlike other djs who play on the circuit, you never know what tune is going to be played next..........which to me is the key. take paul taylor, for example, at retro you know what you are going to get with him - the same old selection of tunage, which fair enuff a lot of people like, thus go for.

whenever i have attended a retro and have heard "better days" dropped i screw my face coz it has been hammered far too much, but when vertigo played it - it fell in so nicely and i cudnt help myself from dancin. it was good coz you wouldnt of expected it and secondly, he kept you on a level by coming straight out of it into his next tune. i for one would have never of thought "bedrock-for what you dream of" wud have been played at GTs, same with yeke yeke (both sounded class in there BTW), which signalled out his originallity. most djs who visit GT's will automatically follow suit of what has already been played.........the different style he gave the night for an hour was spot on.

in his set he visited so many styles of house music which is always a plus point (just like sasha back in the day). sweet made a good point when she said he takes you on a journey in all his sets - i totally agree. a class dj he is indeed.

as for welly - there was about a 20 minute period which i thought was brilliant. he played tunes like "kid unknown" and some of the old warp releases, givin a different-techno edge. this was nice to hear for a bit of variation.

enuff of me waffle.......i'm off to whack a vertigo tape on hehe

ANY CHANCE OF BUYING THE VERTIGO SET FROM BOXING DAY BEN MATE????

Nice one Danny, I was gonna put this, but I thought It may start something and drift from the actual topic of the thread!!Personally, I think Vertigo & Sasha mix along the same lines!! Superb mix blends and perfectly positioned 'in key' mixing!!

Danny that was said perfectly on vertigo! I thought vertigo set was feckin ace as well and should definatly be booked again, as like you said you never know what hes gonna drop next.

As for the dancers i agrre with everyone! cos we all missed that balcony and all the people we bring with us did too!

As for paying £2 more come on people - its only once a month and what is £2 - flippin half a drink for gods sake!!!! I for one couldn't give a monkeys.
I totally agree with that m8! i cant believe some people are moaning for the sake of £2. Good times has got somethin goin now.

Me, adam etc always went to the cornmill and brought a big crew with us, but now its there not allowed to hold events anymore and we have discovered GT, we will ALLWAYS be there every month! bringing more peeps everytime.

The hardcore room, thats the best idea yet cos more of my m8's who are into hardcore will come. And as for the peeps who are goin on about OSA dj's/uk-scene dj's who shud get slots, there will be new one soon cos of the comp for new hardcore residency at GT. And as this is the other type of music i collect all genres i.e. oldskool hardcore, happy (kinetic style and cheese) and Nu-style, slow and hard, theres gonna be someone new of this board or uk-scene that will be playing.

And as for the sign on the toilet.lol this guy was askin mme where it was and i pointed to it sayin its behind u. and he was like 'where!?!?!' and im like there!!, so i had to go up to it and show him lol.

eerrrr ya can class me out of the cheesy house brigade bud.
im offended that ya classin every one that wasnt keen on his set in that catagory.
had loads of early vertigo tapes and they where class but i stopped buyin them about 94 cause i wasnt keen on the stuff he was playin
he goes off on one and starts gettin really trancey which if ya sat there sledgin i suppose is ok but if ya wanna buzz ya titties off.
anyway i may be persuaded to change my mine if anyone wants to give me a listen to his set while im straight lol hint hint freebies

Took the words right out of my mouth Alec couldnt have said it better,

i dont doubt for a second the guy can DJ, but it wasnt really my cup of tea, or bottle of water to be more precise.

also agree with the bit about "cheesy house brigade"

i hope that wasnt aimed at me Ste considering all the CD's of yours that i have

Im not a major fan of Vertigo or Sasha for that matter, sure I like some of their sets but theres other styles and and DJ's who get my attention over them ie Daz Willot, Sy, Pilgrim, Welly etc.

Im not saying I dont like Sasha or Vertigo, Im just saying their style isnt always my fave but thats not what the threads about anyway I s'pose so I'll shut up lol

Regarding th e 2 quid, well i dont give a sh*t about that at all - I'd rather part with an exytra 2 quid every motnh than GT not exist and spend those particular saturday evenings risking me neck in Manchester or down the local with the Sporting jackets and over 60's crew.
