Jobseekers allowance problem

Im currently on Jobseekers allowance and have a question

if i work over 16 hours a weekmy claim is void

if i work under 16 hours a week does it affect anything legally with JSA?

Ive been told you can work up to 16 hours with no comeback but ive just heard that whatever i make over a certain amount they take off my benefit?

whats true and whats false here

Ive tried looking on the net but nothing yet answers my exact question

cheers peeps

Alan

You can work 15 hrs and 59 mins a week but no more or they will stop youre benefit. They disregrd the first £5 you earn but then the rest will be taken off your giro, so if you earn £60 a week you will get no giro but you still have to sign on they still pay your national insurace for you and youre still entitled to any other benfits you get from signing on.

If you earn £40 a week, they disregard the first £5 so they take £35 off your giro, which means you get £35 minus £53.30 or whatever it is, I forget

The good thing about it is that half the amount of giro they take off you gets put away for you and when you eventually sign off you get that money back, its a bit like a saving account for you Not sure if there is a time limit to how long youve been signing on before you benefit from this, think it might be 3 months. But you can work under 16 hrs for as long as you want. Ive done this a few timesand had a tidy sum at the end of it. I think, but a not sure about this, but also when you sign off they give you something else for actually siging off, but Im not really sure whether they still do this. I signed off in June last yr to go into full time work straight away and I got given £50, money to buy clothes and a months extra housing but i think you have to have been signing on for quite a while which I had been but had some extra help

Hope this helps

Sweet xx

£120 a week !!! what dole are you on ???!!!

Yes, they probably will only take it off one week, but seeing as youre gonna be earning a fair wack they might make you sign off, but what you can do after youve done the work is ask for a rapid reclaim, then you wont have to fill in all the forms again

cant you do it without telling them, seeing as its only for 1 day errr give a false national insurance no. to the people youre gonna be working for ??? Not that i would do anything like this mr officer

If they do make you sign off make sure you tell the housing that you only did a days work or they will stop youre claim too, and that my dear would be a right pain in the bum
