I use this to convert Avi to dvd: Video Converter - AVI MPEG MPG MOV WMV RM RMVB SWF To DVD MPEG MPG VCD AVI Converter

Probly available free the same place you got the film

If only getting sound & no pic on ya pc try 'Media player classic': SourceForge.net: guliverkli
