| I started learning the trumpet when I was 7. Had lessons till I was about 17 / 18 ish, which was when I reached a point where I'd started to get a bit bored of it and wasn't going to improve any more. It was probably one of the best things my parents ever did for me, and I can't imagine what it's like to not be able to play an instrument.
I'd say keep encouraging her, and if she's still keen in 6 months time you could perhaps get her to start playing something that's slightly more pleasing on the ear than the recorder!
