No not at all. It happened to me whilst using Soundforge 4.5 and 5.0 on two different PC's, one which was SCSI 9 + 18Gb drives, and another that had a 20gig 5400rpm drive in it.
Both suffered the same symptoms, and whilst recording, the running timing display would often stop running after say 30 mins of recording.
I asked a mate at the time who was more clued up on PC's and he suggested defragging the drives, I did so and problem solved
I have used stand alone hard disk recording and never had any trouble with those, maybe they handle it better
