My advice is to call it a PC or desktop PC. If you ask peeps for a "server" they will give you a top end machine that will cost you an arm and a leg.

If you feel like a n00b with PC's then you may be better looking for something around the £700 mark from PC World. They help ya install it and give you lots of post-sales support.

If your going to buy one then prepare yourself for questions like.. what are you going to use it for, etc etc.

For example, if you want to play modern games on it then you need decent sound and graphics which push the price up. If you want a bog standard PC which lets you type and browse the web then you can get away with a much cheaper PC. I wouldn't be surprised if you can get one for less than £500 that would do the job for you.
