IMO vertigo was excellent.
unlike other djs who play on the circuit, you never know what tune is going to be played next..........which to me is the key. take paul taylor, for example, at retro you know what you are going to get with him - the same old selection of tunage, which fair enuff a lot of people like, thus go for.
whenever i have attended a retro and have heard "better days" dropped i screw my face coz it has been hammered far too much, but when vertigo played it - it fell in so nicely and i cudnt help myself from dancin. it was good coz you wouldnt of expected it and secondly, he kept you on a level by coming straight out of it into his next tune. i for one would have never of thought "bedrock-for what you dream of" wud have been played at GTs, same with yeke yeke (both sounded class in there BTW), which signalled out his originallity. most djs who visit GT's will automatically follow suit of what has already been played.........the different style he gave the night for an hour was spot on.
in his set he visited so many styles of house music which is always a plus point (just like sasha back in the day). sweet made a good point when she said he takes you on a journey in all his sets - i totally agree. a class dj he is indeed.
as for welly - there was about a 20 minute period which i thought was brilliant. he played tunes like "kid unknown" and some of the old warp releases, givin a different-techno edge. this was nice to hear for a bit of variation.
enuff of me waffle.......i'm off to whack a vertigo tape on

hehe
